parsforlife
Villa have absolutely blown this. The pen/red card is an interesting call. I think we have 2 offences, one being a shirt pull outside the box for DOGO, which would be red and a free kick, but then with a bit of advantage it it creates a genuine attempt to play the ball and a foul inside the area. Don't know the rules well enough here, my instinct would be yellow card and a penalty you can see why the red is given. Don't think it would have changed the result tho.

Molotov
The FA cup used to be a glorious competition with players and managers going all out to win. Sure you would get shocks on occasion. Nowadays you expect shocks like the one at Villa Park every time a “top” side plays against lower league opponents. Now the EPL team rests important squad players as survival in the top league is absolutely vital to the club. The top league sides who can’t be arsed would be best just ditching the competition altogether. It’s a shadow of the tournament it once was. Years ago Cardiff vs Leeds would have been a complete sell out. There were 13,000 empty seats today. Modern fitba is pish.

Theroadlesstravelled
If you didn’t take enjoyment from Newcastle getting papped out then maybe you’re right and football is not for you.
Guest
Loved the result, hated the sight of all those empty seats around the ground. Why these clubs don't just sell off unsold seats a day or two before the game, three kids for a quid each and a fiver for an accompanying adult, and fill their grounds for FA Cup Third Round Day........ Cardiff was noticeably threadbare too. Doubtless there's some FA regulation preventing them from doing so, in which case the rules aren't fit for purpose (again).

It’ll be the same as up here I would imagine ... prices will be agreed between the 2 clubs beforehand and gate receipts shared after expenses. The prices were Adults: £20, Over 65s/under 21s: £15 and Under 17s: £10 which sounds pretty decent. Looks like the time of year and it being live on terrestrial TV has hit the crowd. Bully Wee Villa
What a ridiculous club I support. At least I have Clyde to cheer me up... Well done Stevenage. Edited January 8, 2023 by Bully Wee Villa

Sergeant Wilson
Tha VAR thing that is annoying me is the use at only PL grounds, surely it's fairer to switch it off at those games. It's not quite playing games in the same competition under different rules, but why should some games have greater scrutiny?
