Penicuik Athletic 2022-2023

Delighted with the 2-0 victory today.  1-0 up at half time but Dundonald missed a series of chances in the second half. Then Penicuik went down to 10 men so seemed a matter of time before the equaliser came, which might well have been a fair result. Instead, we went up the park and scored a penalty which was the preverbial kick in the baws and were able to close the game out. A classic case of needing to take your chances.   Both teams should do well this year…

That's a fair assessment. Penicuik edged a first half of few chances for either side. However Dundonald dominated the second half right up to the penalty for the second goal. Thereafter they were comfortable in seeing the game out.

I think Greg Page's return to to the club will prove to be vital as the season progresses.

2nd red in 3 games but thought Penicuik showed character to take the lead and keep going to get the winner against a good LHTV team who were on top with the extra man.

3 wins out of 3.

Was really impressed by Penicuik last night. Went a man down... LTHV did their best to take advantage of it and knocked the ball around well, but Penicuik defended solidly and really never gave them any chances at goal.

Thought the Penicuik captain was immense all game and won every ball on the air and drove forward getting them up the pitch a few times.

The lad that came on and scored the winner looks a cracking player and had a few good touches to get away from players and also a bit of grit to win a few challenges.

Really good start to the season from Penicuik... and grinding out last nights win in the way they did is how you go onto win leagues. Too early to be thinking about that yet, but they've got a solid foundation to kick on with!

Always a tough game against HOB but today we dominated for much of the game and were well deserved winners. As always, when you concede late on it leads to a nervous last few minutes but the 3 points was the fair result.  A few absent today through injury, holiday and suspension so lots to look forward to in the coming weeks. I like the pace we have up front and Alex Chingwalu looks an excellent prospect who can play anywhere on the left. A strong start to the league with cup games coming up letting us get the absent back in the fold.
