St Mirren v Motherwell 31/07/2022

The Footballs back! Fresh cut grass and optimistic fans pouring in adorned with new shirts and at 445 the fans will pour back out wishing they hadn’t bothered.

Robinson will destroy his old mob and do a Klinsman up to the ‘well fans, glorious.

We've got someone else to get pumped by before we even think about this.

Oh, I hope not.

I'm banking on Well to win in 90 minutes by a single goal.

30 minutes of ET, then lose on penalties.

Tired legs, low morale, and angry fans heading to Paisley on Sunday.

Our tombolla could spit out 11 fresh players untainted by a European shaming.

First game of the league season and any confidence I had about this season had been extinguished by 9:30 last Thursday night. Tired players and a baying away support will inevitably lead to a 1-0 St Mirren win.

I've decided I won't be going to this.
We're not worth the rising entry fees.

There isn't any team in the league worth paying over £20 to watch.

We aren't far away from £30 a ticket being the going rate for run of the mill games.

It must be embarrassing for Motherwell that there were more Saints in Fir Park for the 1977 Scottish Cup tie than there have ever been Motherwell fans inside Fir Park

What is your rough estimate for the number of Saints fans there?

I'll answer without any snideness.

Well's average league crowd that season was around 8000. Crowd for that game was 26,709 (with hundreds, if not thousands lifted over, like myself (I was 13 at the time) or doubled up).

The 20,000 over and above your average would, of course, have included extra Well fans and neutrals but there must have been upwards of 15,000 made the trip through from Paisley.
