Hill o Beath had "exceptional circumstances " and were censured with a  suspended fine when they fielded a player v Whitehill in the Scottish 2 year ago. What have Banks o Dee actually done to merit a 24 point loss?

Unregistered player in 8 HL games, only came to light after their Scottish Cup problem was looked into

Banks O’ Dee should be deducted more points for the absolute arse they’ve made of telling folk what they’ve done. Sitting reading a dozen stories on Twitter and Pussbook saying they’ve been kicked deducted 24 points as a result of their being kicked out of the cup, not because they did THE SAME THING NINE TIMES in the league.

Are trialists allowed in league?

Can understand a cup tie but surely league matches can carry a trialist?

Could have ended up some deduction had they lost that cup tie, then, and this continued unnoticed!

Assuming this is a legitimate error, at what point should the league take some responsibility for checking player registrations?

League clamped down a few years ago. Punishment is very specific in the league regulations:

Quote

8.8.8

In the event of a Club being found guilty of a breach of Rule 8.8.1 to 8.8.6 a fine (subject to a maximum of Five Hundred Pounds [£500]) and a mandatory three (3) point deduction will be imposed for each game in which an infringement occurred.

Neither the League Management Committee nor the Judicial Panel nor the Secretary shall be entitled to waive or modify the application of this Rule in any circumstances.

Three games as a trialist. So at best, still a fifteen point deduction, but no way that would work as an excuse. You’ve to say on the teamsheet said player is a trialist.

Lachie MacLeod, whos been injured since last season and came back about 6 weeks ago, or the boy they promoted from the colt team who play in tier 7 about the same time ago, IMO.

That is absolutely appalling from the HL.

No , the rules were breached and the appropriate action was taken according to the rules.

BOD blamed no one but themselves for their error and accepted their punishment.

That is the way football should be. ;)

BOD’s statement about the situation suggested they weren’t all that happy about it, and in choosing to miss out certain details has meant their Secretary has escaped the worst of the criticism which has been aimed at the League, the SFA, etc.

I don't think anyone would be too happy about it but their statement also  basically suggests that they don't have a leg to stand on and it was their administration error .

Christ almighty!

The Highland league really don't like newbies in their wee league don't they 🙃😂

Seriously though, the rules are in black and white. I just can't believe the penalties got so severe before anyone noticed.

There's very clear processes in how a 'trailist' is marked on every official teamsheet, so no chance of using this loophole either
