What have Banks o Dee actually done to merit a 24 point loss? Jimmy Shaker
Banks O’ Dee should be deducted more points for the absolute arse they’ve made of telling folk what they’ve done. Sitting reading a dozen stories on Twitter and Pussbook saying they’ve been kicked deducted 24 points as a result of their being kicked out of the cup, not because they did THE SAME THING NINE TIMES in the league.
craigkillie
I don't think we should be blaming the club for the failure of people to slightly engage their brain.
roy of the rovers
I'll bet there's a few club secretaries checking the rule book very carefully tonight.
peternapper
The SFA & Spfl accept no responsibility for these kind of things even when it is their fault. We have been on the wrong end of things a couple times.

Are trialists allowed in league? Can understand a cup tie but surely league matches can carry a trialist?
Todd_is_God
Could have ended up some deduction had they lost that cup tie, then, and this continued unnoticed! Assuming this is a legitimate error, at what point should the league take some responsibility for checking player registrations?
craigkillie
You surely have to actually list a player as a trialist, there would have to be a process to that. I can't imagine you could just play an unregistered player and then say afterwards "ah, he was a trialist actually".
Cyclizine
League clamped down a few years ago. Punishment is very specific in the league regulations: Quote 8.8.8 In the event of a Club being found guilty of a breach of Rule 8.8.1 to 8.8.6 a fine (subject to a maximum of Five Hundred Pounds [£500]) and a mandatory three (3) point deduction will be imposed for each game in which an infringement occurred. Neither the League Management Committee nor the Judicial Panel nor the Secretary shall be entitled to waive or modify the application of this Rule in any circumstances.

You’ve to say on the teamsheet said player is a trialist.

Jimmy Shaker
The rule reads like the maximum fine for breaching the relevant rule is £500, not £500 for every breach.

welshbairn
It's no fair, the SFA should have mandatory courses on reading emails. https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/sport/football/highland-league/4965238/banks-o-dee-boss-jamie-watt-explains-how-missed-email-was-fatal-moment-which-led-to-harsh-24-point-penalty/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social

No , the rules were breached and the appropriate action was taken according to the rules. BOD blamed no one but themselves for their error and accepted their punishment. That is the way football should be.
Jimmy Shaker
BOD’s statement about the situation suggested they weren’t all that happy about it, and in choosing to miss out certain details has meant their Secretary has escaped the worst of the criticism which has been aimed at the League, the SFA, etc.

Spyro
Christ almighty! The Highland league really don't like newbies in their wee league don't they Seriously though, the rules are in black and white. I just can't believe the penalties got so severe before anyone noticed. There's very clear processes in how a 'trailist' is marked on every official teamsheet, so no chance of using this loophole either
