Took in this evening's Fife derby at Humbug Park as Crossgates Primrose took on a struggling Oakley United.

From 2-0 up, to 3-2 down, Crossgates eventually won 4-3 in a pretty end to end match.

While Crossgates were the better side and probably just about deserved the win, Oakley will be disappointed they couldn't hang on for at least a draw and remain pointless.

Shoutout to the Crossgates Ultras behind the goal. Without doubt the least annoying group of kids I've encountered at a game yet and there was enough of them singing in unison that they managed to create a bit of atmosphere!

Yeah it was great to see both teams going for at it in a local derby.

was good to see Oakley battle back but Crossgates with the little bit more quality shone through in the end.

Great game for the neutral anyway

Ominous form, reminds me of Nitten last season. Looks decent, scared sides but ultimately kept dropping silly points and only really performed against the better teams while losing to the sides around them.

It's going to be carnage at the bottom half of the table this season.

As I said earlier Oakley are not that bad.  4-1 flattered Broxburn on Saturday. The teams that have beaten them this season are all top half of the division.

Yeah they had more up top than I anticipated from watching them last year and losing the boy love. Will need to start picking up some points soon though to stay in this difficult league.

Was impressed with the bluebells cup win on Saturday so decided to travel up to Perth given the swifts strong start. For all the pretty football the swifts try and play the Bluebell’s hard work and commitment trumped them to see them run out 2-0 winners. Swifts will need to show a bit more grit when the going gets tough if they’re going to challenge Linlithgow and Penicuik who will be favs for the premier. Wouldn’t write off the bluebell though! Improved side under Hubby

it was a very good game and Dundonald certainly deserved to win.

I’ve said a few times on here that I think Jeanfield are the best footballing team in the league. Dundonald are definitely improved this year too and had they had their shooting boots on against Penicuik in game 1 they may well have been the team with the 100% record. That’s a great result up in Perth.

'Derby day' tomorrow actually started tonight where in a Fife derby Dundonald won at Inverkeithing to go 2nd before 300+ impassioned Fifers.

Crossgates v Hill of Beath in another Fife derby pits 4th against 14th. Oakley v Sauchie sets hosts still awaiting opening points against visitors from the far side of Clackmannan.

LTHV v Tynecastle in the Edinburgh & ex-Saughton derby already has relegation 6 pointer feeling. Vale of Leithen v Penicuik sees the lead-ers appropriately crossing Lead-burn to visit rock bottom and pointless LL descendants. Jeanfield v Blackburn is another game.

'Match of the Day' is probably the West Lothian derby Linlithgow v Broxburn, though Haddington v Musselburgh in the East Lothian derby might also argue that billing as both look to ignite thusfar mixed campaigns.

Excellent game at humbug park where Crossgates came out on top despite being behind with 5 minutes to go.

Haws had the better of the first half and rightly ahead responding quickly to the equalizer.

Crossgates started the 2nd half better and with tempers flaring 2 bookings in quick succession(tho the 2nd tackle could have been red by itself) saw haws go down to 10 with 25 minutes left, the game was then entirely one sided from there.

Pressure finally told with the equalizer with a few minutes left, the one way traffic didn’t stop and the winner game just into stoppage time.

Ref probably wished he added about 30 seconds less on as the tensions boiled over and the game just about finished with an absolute rammy at the dugouts with most of the players involved.   If was hard to keep track of what was involved but I think about if they had there been VAR about 3 red cards could have been shown.  Ref settled on 3 yellows, one going to Campbell which was his 2nd.

Glad to get out the ref blew for time moments after the free kick was taken.

331 at the game, a very good turnout.
