Premier Elect: EOSL Premier Division 2022-23

Recommended Posts

Last season's champions Tranent have climbed to higher pastures after blowing away St Cuthbert and Darvel, while Vale of Leithen return after a decade in the Lowland that became increasingly hapless in its latter years. Haddington and Oakley come up from below.

Penicuik and Linlithgow must start among title favourites - Sauchie, Jeanfield, Dundonald and Broxburn also impressed - while a formidable contest awaits to avoid the 3 or 4 relegation spots.

Not sure we could have been handed a tougher opening fixture, but glad to see the season is nearly upon us.  Buckle up, here we go again.

Or, could be best time to face them! Blackburn must be buoyed by fact they are playing Premier league football again this season, and anything goes in first match👍

The real action kicks off tomorrow and just can’t see past Linlithgow and Penicuik for the top two spots.  My choice for winner is Lithgae (not a huge surprise). Jeanfield will be the best of the rest.

Going down will be a tougher call.  Vale of Leithen and Oakley would be my call, but after that which 1/2 will join them is anyones guess.

My choices will be LTHV and Swifts. Think Blackburn, Haddington and Tynecastle will just have enough about them to survive.

Will be a really tough league this year and very important to get off to a good start.

Good start for us. It was a gritty performance against a Lithgae side that enjoyed the lions share of possession without creating too much clear cut chances, hitting the post early doors and then the bar after a goalmouth scramble first half.  Second started much the same and Welna had to pull off a great save from a header to keep the scores level before Scott Richards hit the post at the other end, then Sweeney was clean through but Binnie got his legs to it but from the corner it was Richards who headed us into the lead.  The Lithgae pressure told in the end with a bit of a scrambled goal 2 minutes into added on time to deny us back-to-back wins over Lithgae.  It was a great point to get though to kick the season off.

Thought your keeper made some tremendous saves Burnieman. A fair reflection of the game from yourself, unlike the elderly "gentleman" who was stating this was the worst Linlithgow team in 10 years!

Blackburn are a better team than they are given credit

On another day it could have been 3 or 4, but we stood firm, maybe rode our luck at times (you have to when playing teams better than you) and had the chance to wrap it up after we went ahead by scoring a second.  However it's a point gained for us rather than two lost.

It's not the worst Lithgae team in 10 years, some of your supporters think they should just turn up and steamroller teams like us. Maybe that's part of the problem.

Blackburn really well drilled and a good defensive side.

Thought we were unlucky with a couple of penalty calls but aside from that and a couple more chances we didn’t create much and that’s credit to the home side.

Great save from Binnie kept us in it and credit to the boys for fighting to the end to get a point. Not an easy place to go on the plastic pitch. Think Blackburn will have another decent season on that showing.

In actual fact its arguably the best Rose side in 10 years. Once this lot click there will be a few skelpings this season.

I thought the first penalty claim with our keeper was 50/50, the second wasn't, I was waiting for the whistle to blow and a finger pointed to the spot. Got away with that one.  Mind you, towards the end, your No.3 got away with a yellow instead of a red. He first had a swipe at our player (no contact) which the ref just talked to him instead of booking, then a minute or so later he done exactly the same (this time with contact) with no intention of playing the ball and received a yellow.

I think there could be, although I don't think Liam Allison's best position is CH.
