The problem with Braverman, apart from her odious views, is that whilst the Parliamentary party has no problem with appointments from across the racial spectrum, the Tory rank and file might not fancy a candidate of colour emerging as party leader or PM.

Ditto Sunak, Javid, Zahawi, etc.,

This is utter nonsense.

The reason the Tories have had two female PMs and multiple people of colour in senior cabinet positions is because they don’t bother with diversity quotas. Everyone who rises to a senior position in the Conservative party has done so on merit and not as a result of tokenism.

The party will happily elect a person of colour if one proves to be the best person for the job and this might well be the time.

Yeah, the Tory Party always picks the best person for the job regardless of background. It's just coincidence that about twenty of their Prime Ministers have been a white bloke who went to Eton or Harrow.

The Tory membership don’t appoint the cabinet.  You’re living in cloud cuckoo land if you don’t think there’s a fair sized racist element in the grass roots Tory membership.

Toby Young founded the Free Speech Union.

Wonderful organisation which has saved numerous people from the pernicious effects of wokeness and cancel culture.

Is that the boy who had a stag do and nobody turned up ?

Mordaunt and Wallace have parents who were in the Forces. Truss's parents were suspiciously left leaning

Truss was President of the Liberal Democrat students at Oxford before joining the Tories two years after graduating. She was a remainer who embraced Brexit after the vote. Also wants a loosening of employment laws. Sounds like a careerist chancer to me so will likely get elected.

Mordaunt was educated at an RC school which might lose her the staunch vote.

Wallace was an MSP so might actually have half a clue as to how devolution works. Or he might just decide to abolish the Scottish Parliament, who knows?

Truss as Tory leader is on a par with Jess Philips as Labour leader.

Both vacuous gobshites who have convinced themselves (maybe with the help of others) that they are capable.

They aren’t.  They’re both standing jokes.

Saw some suggestion before that he really wants Home Secretary. So maybe he waits until there's a few candidates left and then backs one in exchange for being promised that.
