It's a bit like sacking Yogi and then finding out the only candidates for the job are Mark McGhee, Malky McKay, Tommy Craig, David Goodwillie and Stuart Baxter....

 

Whoever gets the gig is a Tory. And not a MacMillan/Heath type Tory either.

It seems you're right: Major, Blair, Brown, Cameron, May and Johnson = 6

In the early 1990s there were Thatcher, Callaghan, Wilson, Heath, Douglas-Home = 5

The latest Tory membership poll of about 12 possible candidates has Sunak, Zahawi and Patel in three of the bottom four places.  Quelle surprise.
