Given the utter disaster of having a 'presidential style' populist moron in charge, they may go for an empty suit type to match up with Starmer. Tugenhat, Harper or Jenrick perhaps, who can quietly be seen to be 'getting on with the day job' and leaving the culture war dogshit to the Patels', Goves' and Francois'.

Is it the party members that choose ? If so, something to consider is the exact level of far right entryism post Brexit with the collapse of UKIP etc. Someone like Baker would come into play then.

Got to be this guy.  Eccentric as f**k, totally useless and experience of working with other hopeless c***s.  He’s perfect for the job.

MPs vote until there are two candidates, then those two go to the membership.

For the second time in British history members of a political party will directly choose the PM. The first time was when Boris Johnston assumed office.

Heard the plan is to get shot of Boris, get the MPs to choose the two before recess, then a vote by the full membership in August, leaving Johnson as a safe pair of hands to look after things until the result. :1eye

New definition of "a safe pair of hands" found.

Give it Chris Pincher till the end of the season.
Safe pair of (wandering) hands in theory. Possibly a new approach maybe a player manager roll although he needs to be give back the whip which I assume he would enjoy immensely.
