SUPERSOUTH
3 hours ago, Skyline Drifter said: I'm sorry but this is nonsense. The arrangement from the very start was that the Tanner Fund was there for when the club needed money to add to the budget for extra players. It was set up about 15 mins before Livingston sold Lyndon Dykes to QPR so handing us a large windfall and about a year before the the Govt then handed us half a million pounds in Covid grants. The club isn't remotely short of cash with not far short of a million quid in the bank and it would be morally wrong for them to ask for donation income to boost a playing budget in that circumstance. The squad is bigger than it's been in living memory. People can think those players aren't good enough but it's not for the lack of numbers and signings. Think you'll find most of the fans don't think the squad hasn't enough quality in it. The big problem is the way the team is set up and managed... Just wish the board could see that and SPEND some of that near million pound and GET RID of the problem, before we end up in league 1.... Excuse after excuse - need to defend better and do better in front of goal, he never takes the blame always chucks the young players under the bus by playing them out of position and blaming individuals, lowest budget in the league etc etc Had hoped when the manager said on his interview on Sat night that we lack "a natural striker" (doesn't do much for the confidence of the other strikers he has signed much good!) he would have brought in a proven goalscorer... Na no chance a should have known better..

Priti priti priti Patel
Board statement on the official website regarding the Tanner Fund. http://qosfc.com/news-5659?fbclid=IwAR01wJZnDlo0ZFpUOYq5s85nnX3V2-TtP17MEj6CbgxEme2pbP4vR6YWG9M They say they have met with the Tanner Fund committee, which the TF people might dispute. That aside, it's actually pretty coherent, diplomatic, and positive in tone. Surprisingly so. More of that please going forward. We should be hearing from the people in charge about different topics on a weekly basis. MallanandFlanagan
If they can't identify a player to use the funds for currently could it be used for an agreed improvement to the ground?

Alex Nesovic's Barmy Army
One of our better statements for sure. Terry_Tibbs
Jamie McAllister has just left Sunderland and is looking to get into management... I'd rather we gave him an opportunity than stick with the insipid AJ and almost certainly go down.
qos1990
Surely if nobody suitable could be found, the manager could have topped for example the wage ruben and Joseph get, and boost it up a bit to get someone that looks like they’ve kicked a ball prior to signing for us

Do the closing lines: "The club is going through a difficult time on the park and we fully understand the frustration of the supporters. We are all fans ourselves and want the best for the club, it’s at times like this that we need to stick together and be as positive as we can be." ...not basically amount to a suggestion that people pipe down? It is how you spend your budget we decided this season to get young players with potential in the hope we could sell them on that has not worked as many of them as just not good enough for this level. Can you provide proof of every clubs finances please? You seem to have a lot of inside information.

I do see how you can read it like that. I took it as more of a rallying cry, and basically the only way a competent board could end that statement. I didn't read too much into it, but scrutiny is always good!
Alex Nesovic's Barmy Army
Seems the whole of Scotland is now probably behind us to beat Raith tonight then.

Slipmat
ICT have let Manny Duku go. Probably the sort of player Johnston would be keen on getting. I'm not sure I would be.

I'm just always suspicious of people being told to get behind the team rather than grumble. If right now isn't the appropriate time to criticise, it begs the question as to when might be better.

qos1990
By Christ we are absolutely horrendous defensively. Our shape is horrific at times also. Good battle to bring it back but give ourselves a mountain to climb. Clean sheets are the name of the game

We need at least one experienced centre half can't believe we signed another Motherwell reserve and expect him to make a difference .
