The Queen of the South thread

Mr Hewitson is listed as a director of 12 companies.

Do we know how many ( if any) of these companies have any financial relationship with Queens? I’m not suggesting anything untoward, but it might at least explain an apparent reluctance to hand over the reins in the face of apparently overwhelming loss of confidence from the fans. I can’t see what Mr Hewitson can be getting personally out of the current situation, and it must really hurt the other two board members to be getting compared to the Harkness regime in some quarters.

Not overtly. The claims that Building Craftsmen are allocated revenue from the arena are not reported, however there are three separately registered companies with similar names. Would depend which one is claimed to be the ones. C Paterson is a director of Farries, Kirk and McVean Chartered Accountants. as per sign off the last accounts for Dickies Bar. Their offices are also the correspondence address for for two other companies. All in the public domain on companies house. Anyone can google 'find and update company information' and enter a company name such as Queen of the South for example! Details of annual returns, directors and directors other interests together with previous interests are published.

As Greta Thunberg would say……. “Blah, blah, blah…….”!!

To be fair to the BOD, we've got a decent set of lights now ....... can't be all bad, eh?

Hmmm... not sure about the "interesting" part!   To me it reads like a War and Peace length epic self-congratulatory backslapping exercise which does nothing to address any of the issues which actually matter to the average supporter like myself.

The board apparently are of the opinion that matters on the park "could be healthier" but no indication is given as to what they consider to be "healthy".  What are their targets for the rest of the season?  What is deemed to be an acceptable performance level?

The only reason/excuse for the poor results and run of form which has dragged on for the best part of 2 years (barring a nine game "blip") is a recent run of injuries particularly to defenders.  Nothing to do with retaining an inept manager, questionable team selection or tactics.

Anyway, now that team performance has been glossed over lets move on to the pitch and it's "best test results so far" surface all lit up with our nice new LED floodlights.  Who are they kidding?  It's a worn out rug which draws criticism from all those who have had the misfortune to witness the football played on it.  Are they honestly kidding themselves into thinking we have a surface comparable to that at, say, Starks Park?!   Also, the decaying stadium can't be improved with even a lick of paint, or removal of moss from the stand roof because of the board have ploughed all available finances into assembling the team of galacticos who dazzle us more than the lights do as they strut their stuff to such great effect on the park, apparently.

Finally, it's all very well endlessly trumpeting the amount of involvement that our reserve and youth players have with local schools, but let's face it, the schoolkids aren't going to be tempted through the turnstiles after a couple of lads (who are so distant from the first team that even your diehard supporter would have difficulty recognising them on the street) have put them through their paces for a couple of hours if the overall impression of the club is that of one that is happy to cling onto Championship survival year in, year out.  The most obvious way to attract the local youngster is to get a winning team on the park, not to send a couple of 17 year olds round schools for a kickabout once a week.

By all means click on the link or visit the OS if you want to read an overlong, wordy epistle with an underlying message of "don't worry, be happy with what we give you and shut the f*** up", otherwise don't waste your time.

I've watched a few games of late and wonder if the players are actually struggling to see the ball when it is in the air and coming at them through the line of sight of the flood lights. Looking from the sides when the ball goes into my line of sight of the floodlights I struggle. Maybe why we cannot defend crosses😀

On the pitch, the board have been making financial provision for its replacement as per the agreement with D&G council to the sum of £20,000 per year. As of last years accounts a provision for £120k had been made for replacement. Guess its the balance against actual replacement cost.

To answer the question on Building Craftsmen in the accounts, a disclosure is made each year that they carry out significant maintenance free of charge. Apart from 2015/16 when they were paid £300,000 for construction of the new dressing rooms and £20,000 retention for works on the arena.

Cracking result today and makes the Boxing day game at Cappielow a huge opportunity ..... Ayr and Dunfermline both have tough games, so a real chance to open up a 7 point gap over Morton and create some distance with the rest.

Also, half-way point now and at 17 points that's 8.5 pts per quarter currently - always think that 10 or 11 points per quarter necessary for safety so still a way to go yet.

PS - AJ must stay, the BOD are fab, and the plastic carpet is wonderful ..... fitba fans fickle? Que?

Brilliant performance from us from start ro finish.

We have gone from our worse performance of the season  against  Cove to the best.

When we pass the ball we look a different team now is the hard part trying to make sure we have this level of  performance every week
