When did Larne last win the league?

Have they ever?

What's the story with their ascendancy? Good manager and squad or have they 'done a Darvel'?

They've never won the league.

Backed by the founders of Purplebricks.

Portadown beat the Swifts 3-1 to close the gap to 8 points on them and Newry, with a game in hand on the Swifts. Interesting at both ends of the table.

And Coleraine's Jamie Glackin suspended for 10 games for a social media infraction.

Cliftonville at home to Glentoran, while Larne travel to Carrick. Linfield host Coleraine.

Larne, Cliftonville and Linfield all win, looks like it's between these 3.

Stephen Baxter agrees.

Larne edge past the Welders in the Cup

3 matches today, possible upset at Dixon Park, Ballyclare v Ballymena, home win at Solitude Cliftonville v Dungannon, and the big one - Crusaders v Glentoran at Seaview. Going for the Crues.

Two Irish League games, affecting the foot of the table, Newry v Glenavon, Newry must fancy their chances here, and Portadown v Carrick. Another win for the Ports?

Big game at Seaview today. Both teams out of the title race. Looks like last chance saloon for both. If Crues play like last week they'll get hammered. Really looking forward to this and hopefully playing Comrades in the semis.

Mystic Granda didn't do so good.

Ballyclare 1 Ballymena 3 (AET). The upset faded away after United's equaliser.

Cliftonville 1 Dungannon Swifts 2. Dungannon caused the upset, well done them! :thumsup2

Crusaders 1 Glentoran 0, got that right.

And the league predictions weren't any better, with Newry and the Ports both losing!

Don't know how that looked on tele tonight, but it was brilliant live. A real no holds barred derby that could have went either way. I thought we didn't take advantage when 1-0 up, but the Reds weren't being bullied tonight. Got home like a drowned rat and I'm still buzzing. My last Crues game for a while. Firhill on Saturday, home to scumdee.

Always nice to see a new team win the league, although I'd like to know what fans in NI make of Larne's success. On the one hand, it does remind me of Brooks Mileson (or was it Miles Brookson) buying his way up the leagues with Gretna. On the other hand, the PurpleBricks founder is much younger (and I assume doesn't smoke 100 cigarettes a day), and has been a fan all his life. Also, I can't imagine he needs to spend that much money on winning the league. The Champions League might be a bigger ask though!

They haven't won it yet!

I don't mind tbh, it makes a change from the usual suspects. As Coleraine are never, ever, ever going to win it again - 49 years and counting - and as long as Ballymena don't win it, Larne are the least worse option.
