Caught the last half hour of the Glenavon v Larne game. The struggling table toppers squeezed past Glenavon, 1-0, thanks to an own goal. Larne weren't very impressive, but it's a much needed win for them.

Good day for Larne, watching from the sidelines, as Cliftonville are thrashed by Ballymena and Crusaders edge out Glentoran. Coleraine and Linfield also win.

Top: Larne P 18 Pts 41, second Crusaders (on goal difference) P 18 Pts 36, third Linfield (on goal difference) P 18 Pts 38, fourth Cliftonville P 17 Pts 36, fifth Glentoran P 16 Pts 35, sixth Coleraine P 18 Pts 30

Bottom half: seventh Ballymena United P 17 Pts 23, eighth Carrick Rangers P 18 Pts 22, ninth Glenavon P 18 Pts 20, tenth Newry City P 17 Pts 15, eleventh Dungannon Swifts P 18 Pts 7, bottom Portadown P 17 Pts 1

Linfield v Carrick https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/63837462

Coleraine v Dungannon https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/63847333

Glenavon v Larne https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/63839006

Despite their recent wobble, Larne are still top, 5 points clear of the pack although Cliftonville have a game in hand and the Glens have two. Going to be interesting. Neither Crusaders nor Linfield can be ruled out either.

At the bottom Portadown look doomed, although they are only 6 points behind the Swifts, Newry must be pleased with the amount of points they have gathered so far.

Cracking league this season. Teams winning hard and losing easy  all over the place. Being in Scotland, I've missed the last two Crues games. Two great results. Five teams in it and Linfield yet to get in their stride. I worked with a Portadown stalwart for many years. If your out there Cecil f*** Vinny Arkins.

Portadown get their first win of the season at Newry, but the result could be overturned due to a team sheet error.

So will Portadown go from 1 point to 4 points to minus points?

A recurring theme for Portadown. Remember the time they couldn't get their league application in on time. How Cecil and I laughed. Well I laughed.

Was watching the second half of Glentoran v. Linfield on and off before, some goal to win it for the Blues. Huge result for them and maintains their impressive form of late. Only the second time I've watched Linfield this season, the other was their impressively self-destructive second leg against RFS in the European qualifiers; safe to this match today was a better one for them!

I really must do the Belfast Christmas double header one year, Steel & Sons on Christmas Day morning, then the Derby on Boxing Day.

(Just how lovely is the Oval by the way? Seen better years but everything that a football ground should be!)

Glens bad run continues, as reported above, Linfield win 2-1 at the Oval.

Other derbies finish Coleraine 2 Ballymena United 0, Crusaders 3 Cliftonville 0, Dungannon Swifts 2 Newry City 0, and Glenavon 2 Portadown 1.

Not home for today's game, but a great win. Baxter has the magic sign over the Reds. Keeps us hanging in there. I'll be at the Carrick game next week hoping for a better result than our last visit. Still very open title race, but the Blues hang about ominously.
