I thought this was a competition for West sides not in Junior Cup or Scottish Cup but I see the Drum are in it again. What's the criteria for taking part ?

I think it's sfa members rather than a team who qualified through winning a cup to play in the Scottish.

It's for unlicensed clubs who are not SJFA members, to give all WoSFL teams a pathway to the following season's Scottish Cup. Drumchapel won it last season and then won the Cup Winners' Shield which gave them Scottish Cup access. They had the same route open to them this season. (Until they lost to Whitletts Victoria last weekend.)

East and South try to play their non-SFA member cup on the same dates as the Scottish Cup. Theoretically it should minimise the disruption to league fixtures. Especially on a first round date when everyone should either be playing a Scottish/Alba/Alex Jack Cup game. That's what precludes a Cup WInners Shield winner from playing in the following season's Alba/Alex Jack Cup since they'd be on Scottish Cup duty.

The West look to match up the Junior/Strathclyde dates instead.

Drumchapel will be disappointed to be out of this year's competition as it will mean no Scottish Cup for them next season, unless they have applied for their licence which I haven't heard about.

Surely if they win it they'll be allowed to enter next season.
