Excuse my stupidity but what does the (Y) after Edinburgh Uni mean? I know they can't go any further up the league even if they win all there remaining games.

And thank you GNU-Linux for posting the results and tables every week

I think it means that they are GUARANTEED to be in the bottom 2, where as it is still mathematically possible for Dalbeattie to catch Gretna. I could be wrong though

Was speaking to somebody yesterday who was mentioning about the Lowland League Cup being played in a group stages going into knockout format across April & into May, which would give some more fixtures at the back end of the season. Is that correct?

So there was some truth in this then, of not quite the correct format -

For the 1st couple of seasons there was a group stage due to lack of members & league games. It's been an end of season knockout  for the majority of its existence.

Last season only had the group stage as they front loaded league games due to COVID concerns.

Great result for Spartans tonight with big win over Stirling Uni.

They are not only top of the table but more importantly firmly in pole position for the play offs, though next game is a toughie away to Celtic B.

Think Spartans will win the league or at least make the play off.

Hit form at the right time.

Wouldn't mind seeing the Highland League Cup done like that, but how will the champions fit it in with the play offs?

Spartans play out of their skins, or a long season - including their uni league endeavours - caught up with UoS?

I was at BOD v Buckie on Saturday and was interested, along with a mate, to compare Spartans and Buckie in regard to potential meeting in the play-offs.

Verdict was there wasn't much between the two.

Stirling Uni, whilst being almost full time, also compete in the British University Championship on Wednesdays which could also be taking a toll on them

Yup, that's been my take on it, having seen Buckie, Brechin, Spartans & Stirling this season. Each with their own strengths & weaknesses, but pretty even overall. Should make for good run-ins in each league, & then hopefully some decent hard-fought & close play-off games. The relative strength of Club 42 is of course the unknown, as there's no lost cause cast adrift at the bottom of SPFL2 this season, & Albion & Bonnyrigg have both shown that they can have their moments.

Would prefer Albion Rovers down just to help clear the dead wood closed shop gang.

If Bonnyrigg finished below them surely they would be the deadwood this season, a shitty name to call a club but just to go along with your quote.

Eitherway a good exciting end to the season for both clubs in a 10 team league with no dead rubbers something the SPFL get right.

Not really. Bonnyrigg's 1st season after promotion. Stayed largely loyal to the team and manager that got them there, spent money on ground improvements neccessary for SPFL football. If they finished bottom they've been the worst team. They've not been around long enough to qualify as deadwood.

This is now the 5th season that Albion Rovers have been bottom half of SPFL2, flirting with the relegation playoff a couple of times.

Before that spell they had 2 promotions one of which was a title win.

As us and Brechin have shown it is very easy going on a downward spiral.

Out of all the sides relegated out of the SPFL only Shire were long time strugglers spending 32 years in the bottom division.

Probably Bonnyrigg’s biggest mistake was staying too loyal to an aging squad.

Edinburgh City done the same and stayed up but quickly changed things the following season.

That's nice but well over 5 years ago. A few managers have come and gone since those successes. They've not even been able to reach a promotional playoff spot.

9th-9th*-7th*-8th-currently 9th

Rot has well and truly set in = Deadwood

After voting against reconstruction had the brass neck to complain about what they got…

At least they won’t have to play Brora away twice a season though

Diddies!
