Lowland League General Discussion

Do any of the stattos out there have/keep a running league table that excludes the B-teams and all results against them?

Would be interesting to see just how competitive that top end of the table looks in a "here's what you could have won" type of scenario.

Still a top 6 in contention at the top. EK drop to 6th though from their current best of the rest standing.

Dalbeattie & Edinburgh Uni likely for the relegation battle but Cumbernauld Colts get dragged into it a little as they lose the 6pts they've picked up against B teams.

Hardly a fair comparison,  the actual league table has more or less even number of games for all teams, making the standings look what they are, incredibly tight.

Really don't get the fascination with pretending B teams are not in the league.  Rightly or wrongly they are , every team plays each of them home and away, wins/loses/ draws,  as with all other teams. The fact none of the B teams can be champions is , I suggest,  a separate matter.

Can B teams be relegated and play in every cup competition?

Every team plays them home and away but sometimes you play against U20s, others get U19 and even one or two games v U 18s, 42 player squad is ridiculous and makes the league a mockery.

Also half the teams in the league already playing dead rubbers till the end of season due to 19 team league.

Farce !

Ok get that like many others you are against B teams in the league. That said can't agree every criticism made is exclusively valid to those teams.

For example the 6 clubs which have Development Teams will have a large  registered playing squad sufficient to fulfil the fixtures.  Might not be 42, but probably not far from it.

Not as if sometimes injuries, suspensions,  stag weekends etc don't sometimes kick in affecting teams put out. That is part and parcel of the game , tho accept on occasion might be more so with B teams.

Totally don't agree half the teams are already playing dead rubbers. Firstly we still have almost 2/3 of fixtures still to play. At the top end the tightest I can remember,  with any number of teams well in the mix. Not just as tight or big a spread at bottom, but with possibility of two relegations and so many fixtures still to play, suggest few teams will be thinking no chance could they be sucked in to a relegation scrap, fools if they do.

How so ? What it means they are not able to be promoted as champions to deny a team a place in the play offs  or relegated to save another team.

There was a motion, defeated,  to scrub their scores for final League placings. Everyone knew 100% what they were getting involved in.

Very tiresome having to constantly correct misunderstandings   or more likely agendas.
