There's absolutely no guarantee a vote will happen this season. As there's no one to get it on the agenda.

Which clubs put it on the agenda in previous years, and why wouldn't they do so again when there's more chance of it passing?

Cowdenbeath would probably get bigger crowds in the EoS Premier league due to the number of Fife teams and the presumption they would win more games.

They should vote for more promotion/relegation.

The population of Cowdenbeath don’t care about anything except themselves. The once excellent gala has now stopped as there’s nobody willing to be on the committee, so the kids miss out. The football will go the same way as barely anyone can be bothered to go, or help out despite cries for help.

It was Bonnyrigg who raised it last year.

...and having Brendan Parkinson from your club on the LL board probably helped as well given it may have been the board that brought the issue to the clubs. Vaguely remember reading that Civil Service Strollers tried to get an absurd motion passed that the board were not to do this again unless the SPFL opens up promotion at the other end of the table.

Hopefully Cowdenbeath would be in the good guys camp on this issue if they beat Gretna and Edinburgh Uni OK. Have to echo what Deanburn Dave is saying that being in the EoS premier isn't something to be dreaded if you are a club with a significant core support that has the ability to bounce back after pro/rel has been opened up properly.

This is not about individuals or clubs. This is about the principle of fair play. This is not about good guys and bad guys.

Can anyone tell me if anywhere else  in the beautiful game a team which finishes last gets an automatic chance to stay up via a play off . Everywhere else last means down. This is a serious question,  anywhere  ?

The highland league bottom club gets a play off.

The bottom team in the Dutch 2nd tier doesn't even need a play-off, they will stay up (excluding the bottom colt team, who could be replaced by another colt team).

Sadly it’s mostly clubs looking out for themselves at all levels.

Not much fair play going about never has been.

The beautiful game?

You haven’t been to many Scottish football games then? 🤣

Thanks, that makes two embarrassments

Naw really. Last year was the first year there was any promotion/relegation to the HL and the tiers below got joined on fairly late in the day so not really much time to amend the issue. On top of that there were only two (or three, maybe?) clubs in the tier below who were licensed. In the end only one won their league and, as they were up against Fort William anyway, the play off was a foregone conclusion. Whether the HL had three automatic relegation spots or one play off only Banks O'Dee were ever coming up anyway. Even now there's a good chance that none of the league winners below will be licensed this year.

Following on from the mention of the Highland League, that's where I've historically watched my football, along with Elgin, but this year it looks like a change of circumstances could mean an opportunity to watch some Lowland League games. Which teams would seasoned LL watchers recommend to seek out from the perspective of which play decent football on the deck? Thanks folks.

Remember  the promise from Maxwell after allowing the B Teams was that the Pyramid Working Group will come up with a plan to open up the leagues 😂😂😂

Maybe best they weren’t opened this season given our position.

Where about are you based?

Might be better following the EoS or WoS leagues,  more competitive, cheaper and not full of colt/uni teams who have no following or bring anything special to games. There's some cracking grounds and interleague battles all through tier 6 and below. The LL is still a bit meh,  until the deadwood is flushed out of it

Thanks for the response & initial thoughts Spyro. I'll still be based in the Highlands, but will be spending more time in Glasgow, including over some weekends, so looking to scout some good football to watch around the city / area. Thought LL due to it being the counterpart to HL, but having looked at WOSFL & EOSFL, looks like the WOS Prem could present a few options without needing to travel too far. What would be your further thoughts based on that? Keen on watching / following sides that play decent football, rather than dull long-ball stuff. Thanks!

Any of the WoS premier games will be decent. On a par if not only slightly less standard than the top HL teams,  but decent crowds and good support so a chance of anything kicking off if the football is pish at least!

Pollok for a big home game is a must if you're going to be in Glasgow, but you're really spoiled for choice compared to up north.
