Lowland League General Discussion

Stirling Uni far superior to OG Broomhill today.

Already 1-0 up when Broomhill went down to 10 men... from that point there was only going to be one winner.

Stirling Uni had too much pace and just dogged tenacity for Broomhill and thoroughly deserved the victory. The scoreline didn't flatter them in any way.

Was impressed with the Uni team against Bo'ness a couple of weeks back, but they looked better today. A really tidy team with a lot of pace and a few good actual ball players.

A lot of teams are gonna drop points against them and it can only be a comfortable top half finish for them if they keep this side injury free.

Really good team to watch.

.A five year old with a pencil and a blank piece of paper could come up with a more coherent structure.

For example how do we end up last seaon with a top division final table with 4 teams below team 6 having  more points/ better goal difference than they do ? Seriously?

For example. How come the teams that finish last in SPFL2 get a get out of jail play off ( insult to injury they always get second leg at home. Sporting integrity,  seriously?). I would be happy to stand corrected if this happens anywhere else on the planet. Seriously?

For example, the logjam from Tier 6 to 5 needs addressing,  100% guarantee sorting Team 42 debacle is the key.

Have said my piece, hope we can get a structure our national passion deserves.

Is that it? If you think a five year old can come up with a more coherent structure, why didn't you come up with a half decent post?

Mentioning how some bottom 6 clubs have more points than some of the top 6 immediately outs you as a someone that doesn't have a clue (hint - after 33 games the Premiership is two separate leagues).

You then say that they key to addressing the tier 6 to 5 logjam is sorting the club 42 debacle. Wow, very convenient for the LL clubs, who apparently don't have to make any changes to LL relegation while just waiting for the SPFL to change the play-off.

Folk arguing that the LL can't or shouldn't take any steps to fix the lack of movement between tiers 5 and 6 until the lack of movement between tiers 4 and 5 is sorted is mental. It's like standing at a urinal and declaring you're not going to stop pissing on the guy to your left's shoes until the guy on your right stops pissing on yours.

It's so petulant. At best, it does nothing to hasten more movement between 4 and 5 and, at worst, it actually hinders it.

But wait a minute are you allowed to say that ?

The Uni are a team they all want punted from the LL.

They're quite capable of matching anyone on their day.

Hi Newky, some posters are very selective in their comments.  Today yes, last week no, tomorrow who knows.

As far as the Premiership goes, think that is singular, so only one league which last season looked at end up like a dogs breakfast. Mmm I understand why it looks liike that, doesn't make it right. It's a construction.

On the promotion/ relegation front, truly wish taking the moral high ground was the way forward.  The reality is the logjam at team 42 ( can anyone point to any other league on the planet where being bang last gets you a two legged play off, with second game always at home) has been kicked into the long grass ever since LL formed.

The solution is for everyone below the SPFL to stop bitching amongst each other and use collective pressure to get the right Pyramid set up. Guarantee those in SPFL lower reaches are loving the in fighting.

There is absolutely no excuse for the LL to not open up relegation. It's not dependent on the club 42 debate and implying it is, is disingenuous. The LL is a shambles of a league with their refusal to open up relegation and letting themselves be devalued with these useless colt teams. That has to be fixed, regardless of what happens with the SPFL. It's a bit hypocrite to talk about infighting in non-league when it's the LL who show a complete and utter disregard for their feeder leagues.

Broomhill pumped 4-0 by Stirling Uni this afternoon, if East Kilbride beat Bo'ness this Saturday as they probably should then is that the season over as a contest?

Hope that's not too disrespectful, @ekok 🙄

I think it is (probably just a throw away line)
The fat lady isn’t even on the stage, far less singing. If you win on Saturday then there’s still the matter of 29 games left. History shows you’ve bottled it before.
Anyway enjoy the rest of the season.

For those that want a change. It's maybe best to focus on what comes next.

There doesn't appear to be a cheerleader for increased relegation within the Lowland League right now.

Quite the contrary. There's meant to be the clubs that wanted to rule out future votes until the SPFL did something.

There's absolutely no guarantee a vote will happen this season. As there's no one to get it on the agenda.

The pyramid review is either dead already or going to be so slow moving we'll die of old age before anything actually happens.

Couldn't agree more, far too soon to be even looking at the chickens, far less counting them. Made this point on EK thread.
