Two good articles. Great to see two signings from a club two divisions higher that the EoS Premier League. In contrast to last season where most were from lower divisions. Sure George and Bob will aid Burgh's progress.

Love the 2nd post detailing Liam Reid's 100 appearance for the club. In truth, when Liam was loaned out to LTHV three seasons ago, I was a bit worried that he wouldn't have a future at Burgh. Thankfully and contrary to my thoughts, this greatly benefited Liam, who got match play on a regular basis, and ultimately Musselburgh. Liam is turning into a great player for the club and now a regular starter. Long may this partnership continue.

Musselburgh had an unchanged starting line-up as nearly 400 spectators were treated to a fine game between old foes, Musselburgh & Penicuik, and it was the The Burgh who got off to a great start after only 5 minutes.

A fine free kick by O'Kane was swung into the box and met beautifully by Nathan Evans who bulleted home a header to give the home side a fine start. The 2nd also came from Evans who was through one on one with the Penicuik keeper after Stevenson found him with a great pass, after intercepting some poor defensive play from the away side.

Half Time saw The Burgh 2 up after a dominant performance against a poor Penicuik side. However, the 2nd half saw Musselburgh on the back foot for most of the early part of the half, and the Cuikie got a deserved goal back mid-way through the half. There were a few nervous home supporters at this point, however a penalty 5 minutes from time by Stevenson gave Musselburgh a well deserved victory, their 4th home win on the bounce, and cemented their position of 2nd in the league.

A couple of away games in Fife now await The Burgh. The locals are happy as Musselburgh are playing with confidence, scoring goals and conceding very little. I'm already looking  forward to next week!  💙

4-5 matches ago, Penicuik would have been looking to finish in top 2 this season. But, 3 draws and a loss in last 5 games seem to have paid to that thought. Am sure Penicuik would have celebrated leaving Olivebank with a draw!!

With Musselburgh, Jeanfield and Sauchie all winning on Saturday, coupled by Linlithgow losing at home to LTHV, these wins take on added importance - particularly as all 3 still have to play Linlithgow again before the end of season.

Big transformation for Burgh compared to last season.

See Liam scored again tonight in the friendly against Preston Ath. Fourth goal in last five matches. Coupled with Musselburgh having the Premier league’s equal best defensive record, Liam must be in the running for player of the year award at end of season.

Congratulations to HoB today on a thoroughly deserved win. Yes, Musselburgh had the better chances 1st half, but in the 2nd half the home side barely laid a glove on the Fife side.

I've no idea why HoB are in the relegation zone on this form, but with the 2 stellar centre backs and the more than competent goalkeeper, who was assertive in every respect, it's only a matter of time before they climb the league, pitch allowing!

A bad day at the office for the home side whose recent form has been very good. But it's the reality check required for next season, when their push for promotion is expected.

Yep couldn't disagree with that statement, personally was looking fwd to watching musselburgh after recent results. Just didn't think musselburgh got to grips with haws formation. Big 11 for haws pulled most strings for them, breaking up play and winning fouls, also he covered all over park and possibly could have done better with couple half chances. Haws won't stay in bottom 3 going on 2nd half performance.

Musselburgh got undoubtable quality but lack a certain amount of grit and bite I feel. Big win for HAWS

Musselburgh have beaten the three sides above them in the league, so there is where the quality is. But three of five losses (two against Tynecastle & Haws) seem to have been their Achilles heel, in their hope to win the Premier League this season.

The difference between them and dare I say it the champions elect Rose, is Linlithgow seem to be better at battling and grinding out results when things are not going well.

Both Jeanfield and Mussy fall short on this front IMO to be considered serious title contenders.

No place near good enough consistently to win a league over 34 games. On their game don't disagree they could beat anyone, but as guy said on other post, when things not going their way they don't have the fight and aggression to grind out results. Good team on their day, but haws wanted it more yesterday and it showed 2nd half.

Not sure they "wanted it more" as Musselburgh had great momentum beforehand and you could see 1st half they were well up for things.

I actually think the hasty triple substitution 2 minutes after the first goal and barely 15 minutes into the 2nd half hindered the home team!

On winning the league, I agree. Next year will see more of a push for the home side.
