QPSpider1867
Absolutely love how Coyle has us playing balls over the top in behind. It suits Murray so well and Scotty is clever and quick enough too. Ellis and McKinnon football was so boring, slow and predictable. All QP fans could tell you the next 3 passes with them. Coyle has us playing in behind when it’s on, the technical passes through the lines to Savoury when it’s on or the wide men are great options and the goals are coming. Dynamic is the word! I’ve been banging on for a couple years to play balls in behind because Murray has the energy and drive to make it work. It’s not hoof-ball and just punting it long. Well placed chips in behind their back line with Murray and Scotty causing havoc, stretching play, getting us up the pitch and holding it up for the midfield to support or driving for goal themselves. Scotty could have had a couple with the balls in behind yesterday. Defenders all say they hate running back to their own goal. Ellis and McKinnon had us playing all our football in front of opposition defenders and it just doesn’t work as the only option! Very happy with Coyle and the team set up. We’re scary at defending set pieces and we do have horror spells when we sit too deep (which I’m not sure is Coyle instruction or natural from the team). Anyway, yesterday was a great win and this team can score goals. Happy days. I’ve said it before but I would rather win 3-2 than 1-0!! Mon the Spiders man.

It had been Lee Kilday mostly this season, but I don't think he's likely to start many games going forward.
CoveRangers1922
Can concur that Luis Longstaff is utter dross. Only seen 2 sub appearances but that's enough for me. He should be our 4th choice RW behind Yule, Leitch and Leighton McIntosh. Looks like a schoolboy playing against men. It does beg the question and concern for you as to who in your organisation thought he was a footballer. At least we have changed our management since we brought him in.

Exactly, same person that is ok with punting one half of our strikeforce because he was going to miss 2 training sessions (not even a game). I totally agree. It isn’t “hoofball”, it’s very effective and the ability to mix it up is something we didn’t have under Ellis or McKinnon. McKinnon won us a league and I will always love him for that, but I think we skooshed League 2 because we had a far better squad of players than the rest of the league, rather than the type of football we played. Ellis started off ok but as you say the football was very predictable and we were found out very quickly under him. There is no doubt we are seeing the very best of Simon Murray since Coyle came in. His hard work off the ball is just as important as his ability on the ball. He pulls defenders out of position constantly and with Savoury and Williamson we have guys to step in and take full advantage of it. God bless the QP.

It's also good management, a wee warning to the existing squad to keep on performing at the expected standard.

Arachnophile
Quite a nice wee article on our sponsors blog page about the history of QP... https://blog.scottsmenswear.com/queens-park-x-scotts/ although I suspect in this sentence... " So not only has the club influenced how we play the game but has also been detrimental in the development of some of the most influential figures in football. " They mean "instrumental" not "detrimental"!!!

Overall though, it’s another disciple for QPFC and should reach out to a new audience for the future. Don’t recall Barrs giving us this space. Spidersmad
scotts are publicising their link to Queen's. I run a specialist music blog (under a different pseudonym from "Spidersmad") and receive regular unsolicited PR releases concerning music, the arts, fashion, etc. Usually I bin them straightaway but you could have knocked me over with a feather when one of those PR firms sent me an article on scotts and QP 2 weeks ago. It's centred on the promotional video scotts put up on YouTube and is accompanied by a short but nicely written article on the partnership. It's a different article from the one on their blog and is mistake free. BTW their blog article mistakenly shows a picture of Eglinton Street instead of Eglinton Terrace (now part of Vicky Road) to illustrate where Queen's were founded.
Spidersmad
Here's the text of the release put out by Fear PR on QP and scotts. There are also photos of Owen Coyle and the new home and away tops. I didn't realise that QP are now achingly hipstertastic. MENSWEAR SPECIALISTS SCOTTS LOOK AHEAD TO THE NEW FOOTBALL SEASON WITH A SHORT FILM EXAMINING QUEEN’S PARK F.C. SCOTTS SPONSOR THE CLUB’S HOME AND AWAY SHIRTS Menswear specialists scotts are the proud sponsors of Queen’s Park’s home and away shirts this season. They now continue to celebrate their partnership by today sharing a short film which examines both the club’s storied history and looks ahead to their immensely promising future. The film features interviews with several key figures at the club, who discuss their vision for their long-term future as well as aspirations for the coming season. These include the newly-appointed First Team Head Coach Owen Coyle, who brings a wealth of experience having managed in the top flight in both Scotland and England. Coyle is joined by Chief Executive Leeann Dempster, who has played a pivotal role in their recent rise, as well as Coyle’s assistant Sandy Stewart, defender Lee Kilday, and Sports Scientist Sam Harrison. The video also discusses the club’s new focus on youth development via their Young Queen’s Park squad, who are represented by defender Archie Graham. In the film, Owen Coyle discusses his ambitions for the club. “It’s exciting what’s happening at Queen’s Park and that’s obviously why I came onboard, to hopefully fulfil the ambitions and the plans that everybody’s got for the club. At the outset of football in Scotland, they were the main club; not Glasgow Celtic, not Glasgow Rangers, but Queen’s Park. We feel we have the opportunity to take Queen’s Park back, ultimately, in time to the highest level possible.” scotts have released the film as Queen’s Park prepare to commence the Scottish Championship season tomorrow with an away game at Inverness Caledonian Thistle. The new scotts-sponsored shirts proved to be a good omen when they were first worn by Queen’s Park, as they triumphed 5-2 versus Stanraer and then 4-1 against Forfar Athletic in the Premier Sports Cup. The retailer specialises in casual sportswear for a young, fashion-forward demographic with a carefully curated mix of timeless brands such as adidas Originals, Lacoste and Fred Perry. The retailer has 15 stores across the UK, including a destination at Glasgow Fort, as well as a strong online presence. scotts also sponsors England’s oldest club, Sheffield FC, and has a strong association with the music industry too. Their social media content has featured collaborations with artists such as Sam Fender and Jake Bugg, and they often collaborate on events with the rock ‘n’ roll tastemakers and record label This Feeling. The new Queen’s Park home and away shorts, sponsored by scotts, are manufactured by Macron and will go on sale soon.
an86
Fair play to them. Exactly the sort of thing we need to be happening to get our name out there. I’d urge anyone getting the shirts to size up one btw.

Pleasantly surprised to see large advertising posters of a couple of QP players in the windows of the Scott's store. I expect their other Scottish stores have the same. Certainly seem to be doing their bit to promote the team.
