Bo'ness United 2022/23

Several "meh" performances in the first half produced a disjointed mess for the BU faithful to watch.  It was poor....really pi55 poor.

Striker Zander Miller was hooked at halftime after having a weak penalty saved, plus missing an absolute sitter and a couple of easy chances.  What was left of his already low confidence appears to have totally deserted him.

Second half the BU's had loads of chances and couldn't take any of them due to a combination of bad finishing and bad luck.......but then the Bo'ness Xavi big Kyle Johnston scored an equaliser and the pressure increased for the visitors.

A Tom Grant header secured the 3 points and the fans went home happy.

In Max we Trust !!

I didn’t see it that way at all. Bo’ness weren’t great first half but wouldn’t say they were a disjointed mess, I’d say a young strong Edinburgh Uni side deserve credit for relentless pressing and not giving the BU players time on the ball.

As for the bad finishing, yes there were a couple of fluffed shots by Zander, but you’re doing the Edinburgh goalie a disservice as the majority of shots were on target and only missed because he made countless good saves. Their goalie was without doubt the MOTM. By a country mile.

On balance of play we could have won by 4 or 5. The old saying of “couldn’t score in a brothel” comes to mind.
When will we sort out the piss poor penalty taking, it’s getting past a joke!!

Will there be a game on Saturday ?

Forecast for Dalbeattie is -4 tonight and -3 on Friday night and icy mist in the morning.   Forecast is for zero C at kick off.   Presume there will be a pitch inspection at some point.

With Dalbeattie’s close proximity to the Solway Firth there’s perhaps a glimmer of hope that the salty breeze might keep the pitch playable but I would guess it’s very unlikely to be on.

Had a chat with Dan at the game - he should be back for Saturday if the game is on.
No sign of Lewis Hawkins though?

Hope so. Should be our first pick no 9. Just not happening for Zander as the lone centre forward.

Thomson the reserve keeper tonight.   Hearing that Ali Adams has walked away in a huff !!

Surprise, surprise.

Wonder if he went to the trouble of burning a club tie in his manky kitchen again...

No real attacking threat in the first half with moves continually breaking down by offsides - not seeing where the last man is - Zander main culprit and the penalty miss summed up his night. Seems low in confidence.

Max got it right with his half - time change - Grant for Miller - and the long ball tactics which got the Uni defence on the back foot and under pressure with a hard won 3 points.

-8 last night in Dalbeattie, sun is shining but has been freezing cold all day.  Will be pretty shocked if the game goes ahead.
