Interesting that Shetland's "reserve" league contains 3 first teams (formerly of the defunct Shetland Works League). Shetland Banks, Wastside Rebels and Bressay Sharks.

Orkney and Midlands are the only other 2 associations with reserve leagues.  The reserve leagues in Orkney and Shetland seem to be totally separate from the rest of the divisions, but previously the reserve teams in Shetland played in a cup with the Shetland Works League teams.  Is there any mechanism for any of the 3 teams mentioned above to be promoted?

That seems logical given most of the B league teams are already linked to an A league team. Is there anything to restrict a non linked team eg Bressay applying to join the A league separately.

I dont think there is anything to stop them doing that, it would be good if there was a larger A League, i guess the likes iof Bressay are happier in the B league rather than the step up in standard that the A league would be

~ ~ ~ 104th Milne Cup ~ ~ ~
The 104th Milne Cup fixture will be played this Saturday, 30th July, in Kirkwall, kick-off 2:30pm.
An extremely competitive local football season is reflected in the selection of players chosen to represent Shetland in the iconic fixture. The squad of 16 is:
Erik Peterson (Ness United), Saul Swanson (Lerwick Thistle), Stuart Copland (Ness United), Robert Smith (Lerwick Celtic), James Farmer (Ness United), Lorne McNiven (Whitedale), Neil Laurenson (Whalsay), Calvin Leask (Lerwick Thistle), Daniel Henry (Scalloway), Jack Clubb (Lerwick Celtic), Ronan Grant (Lerwick Spurs), Harry Thomson (Ness United), James Aitken (Lerwick Celtic), Declan Adamson (Ness United), John Allan (Scalloway), Finn Regan (Lerwick Celtic).
We wish the players and management all the very best of luck against our neighbours Orkney. We understand there is the usual large travelling support so The Blues will have good vocal backing from pitch-side.
BBC Radio Orkney are broadcasting and streaming the game live. Check out their Facebook page for details and links.

Manager Karl Adamson has named his sixteen man squad for Saturday's Milne Cup clash with Shetland. As ever, it's a mixture of youth and experience, as Orkney look to retain the trophy they won in Lerwick last year:
Liam Valentine (Thorfinn)
Findley Cooper (Rovers)
Steve Hellewell (Hotspurs)
Lee Rendall (East United)
Connan Rendall (Rovers)
Dan Hourston (Hotspurs)
Wayne Kirkness (Thorfinn)
DJ Moffat (Thorfinn)
Erik Bews (Thorfinn)
Jon Tait (Rovers)
Aiden Drever (Hotspurs)
Owen Rendall (Hotspurs)
Thorfinn Stout (Thorfinn)
Liam Delday (Thorfinn)
Jamie Flett (Stromness)
Craig Harrison (Thorfinn)
And Radio Orkney will be there with a live stream and commentary of the match. Join us at 2.15pm on Saturday afternoon on 93.7FM and on BBC Sounds, and on this Facebook page for all the action.

Half Time Score

Orkney 0 - 6 Shetland

Full Time Score

Orkney 0 - 8 Shetland

Shetland have incredibly routed Orkney 8-0 to break the record for the biggest win in an inter-county match.

Previously the biggest win had been 7-0, but Shetland blasted into a 6-0 half-time lead in an astonishing first-half.

James Aitken scored three, John Allan netted two, Calvin Leask and Ronan Grant scored one each and an own-goal made it eight for the blues.

Shetland were absolutely ruthless going forward, executing their game plan to a tee, while Orkney were dismal after winning the Milne Cup last year.

Ness Utd 0, Spurs 0
Whitedale 4, Delting 1
Richard Sinclair (3) & Greg Tulloch; Reece Thorne
