Dumbarton Vs Clyde

Recommended Posts

Kevin Nicol with an absolute scumbag tackle in the last minute of an absolutely nothing last game of Clyde's season. Total w**k of a guy.

Also not entirely happy to see our younger fans acting like wee neds near the end of the game and after it. I'm all for the young fans creating an atmosphere, but they started acting like wee dicks.

I'd put his name next to Jamieson and planned to do a strikethrough but couldn't make it happen.

This is still horrendous.

I absolutely loved Kevin Nicol for us. He was a superb player in 11/12 and the fact he's hard as nails is what made him such a favourite.

However that tackle today was an absolute disgrace. He went in to do Josh and we're extremely fortune he escaped without a serious injury. Such a needless (and dangerous) thing to do in the final seconds of a meaningless game.

Anyway, we were good value for the victory even with our B team out. Syvertsen was outstanding - and really should've had a hat-trick. What I'd do to see him play a full season injury free for us

The tackle by Nicol was horrendous on so many counts and will remain the abiding memory of this game.  Which is fortunate for Sam Ramsbottom as he produced possibly the worst attempt at a punch by a keeper I've ever seen in senior football.

I said when Oyinsan was "roughing up" Docherty with about 15 minutes to go that Nicoll will end up going through him at some point. Amazingly that was his first straight red card for Clyde; but I can think of about 5 other occasions where only abysmal refereeing kept him on the pitch. I personally don't think he's been any good for us other than his first loan spell under Duffy, possibly the back-end of Lennon's first season. That comes with the acceptance that he's apparently decent in the changing room.

For us to barely test Dumbarton reserves and an absolute muppet of a goalkeeper is inexcusable. The first time Ally Love passed to a team-mate all game was when he gave the armband to Nicoll; there were three great counter-attacking chances wasted by him turning back, taking a few touches, then getting tackled.

I didn't see Jones come back out after being subbed. I'm surprised he lasted to half-time without one of his team-mates killing him. The first goal came from Livingstone losing the ball as our target man couldn't be bothered moving out into the channel, followed up a wee bit later by the usual clumsy nonsense from Rumsby. The second saw Page completely mess up by getting too tight and whilst the Dumbarton player's initial pass was rubbish, Syvertsen did well to move it on. Parry might feel he could have saved it. Could have, rather than should have, in my opinion.

Jamieson played well. 5 non-penalty goals in a team that creates absolutely nothing is a fair return.

I'm struggling to remember a season I've enjoyed less than this one. A lot of that is coming off the pandemic back to poor performances but then you add in the cup embarrassments, the DGW fiasco, leaving Broadwood, the pointless theatre of missing the game on Boxing Day, More than anything, there's the fact we are just genuinely the most awfully boring side. I can't wait to see the back of this group. The worry is that I don't think we'll be any better next year.

BTW, what was going on with the OAP speccy guy  - clearly a Dumbarton fan - embarrassing himself by intentionally sitting on a clyde flag and then getting escorted away but then re-appearing at half time , pitch side - with a fork in hand! Silly old fool.

If he's a groundsman, no wonder yer pitch is a disgrace.
