I don't really mind the groups but glad regionalisations been removed to open the draw up a bit more. Hopefully seeding next so they aren't trying their best to get all the top flight clubs through but that'll never happen.

Should keep the seedings IMO. It's the league cup so your performance in the league should give you an advantage or otherwise. They should never - and will never - introduce seedings to the Scottish Cup, that's pure luck of the draw cup football.

Positives and negatives of removing the regions. It was becoming a bit stale but didn't feel we drew any one team repeatedly. With some of the group games being midweek it is going to be hard for away fans to get from one end of the country to the other in time for a 7:45pm KO. Could they start earlier and have them weekends only?

Glad the regionalisation has gone, I'd be more in favour of just going back to straight knock-outs- the season starts too early with the groups IMO and you still have to have pre-season games before the groups start. Teams also feel pressure to have their squads in place much earlier- I'd be up for allowing trialists in the group stages as well for this reason if they do remain.

Crucially it also reduces the chances of a sun-kissed train jolly down South as the English teams haven't started their pre-seasons by then.

Be some laugh when we end up with St Mirren, Airdrie, QP and Stenny for the 4th time each despite the regionalisation being gone.

It does increase the chances of a long trip for the sides in the ‘South’ section, certainly, but off the top of my head Raith have played Buckie, Ross County, Inverness and Peterhead midweek since the ‘regionalisation’ came in. Dunfermline, a mere 15 minutes away, have been in the other side of the draw for the most part.

It never really made any sense anyway.

Does it not also increase the chances of a long trip for sides in the ‘North’ section?

Does this mean we don’t have the annual “why are Dumbarton in the north section?” thread?

Anyway, the draw is on Wednesday at 1pm, live on Premier Sports.

It's also on FreeSports (Freeview ch. 65) for anyone who doesn't subscribe to Premier Sports.

Rubbish for Clyde that, basically guaranteed that we are getting another L1 team (or Cove).

The old seeding system risked a group with four Championship teams: Dundee (1), Cove (U/S), Queen's Park (U/S) and a pot 2 team.
