Ended up at Spain Park instead - a scruffy low quality slugfest with very little in it until Banks O' Dee got their second. Turriff weren't blown away, but they are utterly chronic in front of goal, ran out of legs, and conceded another two. Home side not at their best compared to last season's exploits, but in the hat they go. Is it as shitty a place to watch football as I've heard? Someone told me today that you have to peer through a fence.

Only danger today was getting tinnitus listening to the Turriff 'tactics klaxon', as he shall be forever dubbed now.
HibeeJibee
Today ends a wait Glasgow Uni began the year Bell demonstrated the telephone, and Swan the light bulb... Disraeli was in office, the Zulu War yet to break-out, James Clerk Maxwell still lived and Alexander Fleming wasn't born... Here in Scotland the Tay Bridge had just opened: that's the old Tay Bridge which later collapsed disastrously.
TheScarf
I went to Nairn 1 Drumchapel United 3 and despite Nairn playing 2 tiers above their opponents, Drumchapel were clearly better. Having Andy Geggan and David Templeton certainly helped. 39 year old Conor Gethins up front for Nairn looks absolutely done. A truly shocking performance from him. Didn’t look interested from the first whistle.

They had 18 participants in R1 but got just 6 through, and 2 of them were all-HL ties. In contrast Lowland, East and West had 16, 13 and 9 but sent 7, 7 and 8 through respectively (with Uni of Stirling v LTHV still to come). Have they ever been the worst represented of the principal non-leagues in R2 before? Aye it’s been a shocker for the HL. Out with the top 4 and BoD, the standard is the worst I’ve ever seen. Teams full of teenagers and early 20 somethings with no experience. Edit - and boys signed from the North Caley and lower (Inverness Amateur League). It’s interesting how teams like Camelon and Drumchapel have loitered at their levels but suddenly when a pathway opens up, growth happens. Maybe the HL hasn’t recognised this yet but I’m inclined to think, with the rural landscape predominant, the gap between north and south is likely to get wider.

Correct the whole Scottish football landscape to anybody looking back from 20/30 years ago or further is in the middle of massive change. And the Wosfl has only just began it's journey, hopefully the penny drops fast in the West after the Darvel farce in last season's playoff. The EoSFL isn't to be ignored. If Wosfl teams want to go forward then don't disrespect the EoSFL champions. As you say what will Scottish look like by 2030 once the deadwood starts to be really launched out the SPFL2 and Lowland League. The big Scottish Cup is a taster of what's out there for a lot of old Junior clubs especially in the West.
Salvo Montalbano
Bad weekend for the HL or not, that is a good result for Hill o' Beath. Surely the first time they've went further in the Scottish Cup than Cowdenbeath 5 minutes up the road. Hopefully they get through another round and the Pars get them away in Round 3. Would be a great way to get another Derby in.

That's correct: also first time Dunbar have passed Berwick, or Camelon and Dunipace passed 'Shire. In other news Tower Hearts, the Amateur Cup holder who scratched in prelim, have folded.

Qualifying Cups started in 1895 and don't know if they ever qualified. Before that looking at the results it's a bit hit & miss with scratching, being the beneficiary of quite a few byes, or not participating at all.

It's certainly less than you'd think for a club that had been trying for 145yrs. Equally them failing to qualify very often after the Scottish Qualifying Cup was introduced in 1895 is in itself an indication of their low standard most of the time. Guest
Cumnock v Dumbarton a stand out for me. Do the BBC go to Pollok v Annan as an apology? Or are they going to bore is all with Glasgow Uni v Albion Rovers as filming will be easier at Airdrie
