Can we ever imagine a Scotland without the Old Firm?

Recommended Posts

2 odious clubs who only care about each other as do the fans. They could genuinely set up a 2 team league and play each other every week - its all their fans want to see them beat each other (and TBF so do we as then they could f**k off). Ironically tonight Rangersis playing in a European QF and its probably a safe assumption that a large percentage of the clubs fans would have rather seen the club loose out several rounds ago if it meant they were still top of the League (populated by diddy teams other than their other half). The focus on Rangers is Celtic and vice versa, its not always about doing well themselves its about the other doing worse and its all centered around 9 in a row and Scottish trebles. Big fish in a small pond syndrome.

Ok. Instead of simply blaming the two most successful clubs who generate the vast majority of the monies in Scottish football try looking at the game as a whole

Utterly bizarre that a country this size has 42 senior clubs.

Two top leagues of 10/12 clubs

Lower leagues regionalised. Madness to have Annan v Elgin at anytime never mind midweek or Peterhead v Stranraer

More even split in top leagues of finances.

It would be if that's all we had...

We've always had 39/40 teams in the national leagues.

You keep saying this.

Most of the money you describe is your own turnover.

The Premiership didn't implode and nobody fell to bits financially when Rangers were liquidated and the new club spent years in the seasides.

You (and Celtic) have a ludicrously inflated sense of your worth to other clubs.

Never forget that the only reason you and your lot still have a team to support is because the diddies allowed you into the league.

Every victory, every trophy and every celebration your club has forever more is because the diddies you hold in such contempt let you in when they didnt need to.

Holding you back? With any sense, our boards should have held you fucking under.

FTFY.

There was no back mate, they're a new club.

The other clubs have never been as poor as they are now. European results show that.

Something has to change to improve the game over all. Improve the game we improve the TV deal.

Ridding ourselves of people like Doncaster would be a start. He takes over £300,000 out the game each year. He’s been an abject failure

Nonsense. Scottish top division Rangers and Celtic apart has never been so poor

So which SPFL clubs are not capitalist? Community- or fan-owned? Workers co-operatives? Not a very long list.

Common enough (and successful) on the Continent, but what do Barcelona and Real know about football?

Its 'cartel' that's the operative word here.

Yeah you’re right, most of them are very liberal.

Not all of them though.  It's like saying Scottish football is full of sectarian bigots because most only know the two arsecheeks.

As long as it was exactly that a “Scotland” without the Old Firm, not just a Scottish League without the Old Firm. If they were still based here, but playing at a higher level it would diminish the attractiveness of what was left to a new generation of fans. Even more so than now. No, if they stopped playing in Scotland I would want them to physically relocate

Wrong.  If it was the case our depleted squad wouldn't have absolutely hammered you at Hampden (again)

At least if you're saying that you're admitting the stickies are gash considering how many games in this poor league you fail to win

The new stickies are utter pap, and instead of watching your club getting beat this evening you're kicking about the internet looking for arguements that even then my 3 year old daughter would wipe the floor with.

It would help if the media didn't act like there is only two teams. Even TV time and exposure.

Ten in a row and quadruple trebles should be treated as a problem and a problem to solve, not have some high pitched commentator scream sensational when Celtics Multimillion pound striker score his 5th hattrick in as many games
