Lowland league

The point about being bankrolled heavily is that when you get promoted you can afford to sign players who are frequently too good for the level you are playing at and replace the players who got you there. Look at Kelty signing Barjonas, Cardle, O'Ware etc O'Ware and Cardle were part of the squad that won league one last season and then signed to play in league two. I don't have a problem with teams doing this but to dismiss the significance of having significant financial backing is unfair.

No its not, unfair. the fact of the matter every one of those players have something in common with the rest, in the next 48 hours they will do a big shit in a toilet, some shits are bigger than others.

Personally its only people who are jealous that its not their team.  Trust me in a league if one team only is bank rolled brining in better players, every team wants to win against them and love that chance to get one over.  At the end of the day, its 11 v 11 with the same amount of subs

I've tried to run it through my head so many times and different permutations that would be acceptable for everyone with the right pyramid structure.

One I keep going back to is Not changing to much, the SPFL could change to a 16 team league, brining the shortfall up from the Lowland and Highland and then either 4 or 3 relegated with 4 or 3 coming up from the Highland and lowland leagues. if it was 3 then the winners of both Highland and Lowland leagues are promoted and the teams who finish 2nd top of the HL and LL and the 3rd bottom of the SPFL can all do a round robin to see who ends up in SPFL the next season.

Ran this though a few times and i know it was muted at the start of this season but don't understand why they wouldn't want this.
I think i read the SPFL2 clubs get money from the SFA so they wouldn't want anyone extra coming in, diluting their payments.

What are the pros
.A big league similar to the WOS and EOS this year, ending up with exciting games due to teams trying to avoid relegation and teams trying to win the league.

.A good sized portion being relegated and promoted meaning there isn't a bottleneck below the HL and LL and possible 3 clubs promotion to SPFL and possible 3 clubs relegated from it.

.if the SPFL did this then the LL would do the same and it would work in well, 3 teams right down the leagues 3 up 3 down.

.Teams from the SPFL will realise the more teams go down there's a possibility of a quick return due to more teams being promoted.

.If we ask East Stirlingshire, Berwick Rangers and Brechin City what they voted for a few years ago,  would it have been only a playoff to be relegated from the SPFL2 but if you asked them now, they would all say, 3 up 3 down to and from the SPFL2.

.Lowland league wouldn't use the excuse of only 1 relegated due to the SPFL now allowing 3 relegated

What would the Cons be ?

The SFA don't pay the SPFL, that's nonsense.

Ignoring that,

Cons

Lower chance of promotion

Less home games

Significantly more meaningless games

SPFL prize-money more spread out.

Less derby games,

Bigger worry of being relegated to a disgracefully run LL.

Are the SPFL still against a three-way split at tier 5?

Looking at the nick of the LL the level heads in charge of the WOSL and the product they put out they’d do well to look at a 3 way split. Expand the spfl 2 into an 18 team league with 3 down and direct promotion for winners of H/LL (easy) and WOSL.

No not true!! The eos and sos where single leagues playing at tier 6.funny thing i remember the sjfa pushing the west Premier league forward and they would take any clubs wishing to stay junior.then adopting the old stance if you take one club you take them all, stating thats the mandate the clubs gave them

Not sure why it's so difficult for some people to get their head around the complete absence of separate grades in the continental European style league format that the pyramid concept was based on. English football got rid of separate grades in the 1970s and slowly built their pyramid thereafter and initially it was that approach that Scottish football was allegedly trying to emulate.

In the era when Gordon Smith was at the SFA the SJC winner and three superleague champions were allowed into the SFA's Scottish Cup as the first step to doing something similar to what had happened in England. The pyramid proposals emanating from the SFA at that point had both the junior and nonleague senior leagues feeding into the SFL through some type of Nationwide Conference style format.

Later on in the McRae/Regan era the nonleague seniors were very much calling the shots given Alan McRae was from Cove Rangers originally and the "pyramid" became more a case of reforming the senior grade with Tom Johnston acting as their useful idiot on keeping the SJFA clubs completely out of things. There were extra roadblocks added to scare junior clubs away from getting licensed with the progression clause and even an attempt at an SFA AGM to remove the SJC winner and superleague champions from the Scottish Cup.

Kelty finally told TJ where to stick his 100k toilet block and joined the EoS to become licensed and after many twists and turns things have swung back to the pyramid being a genuine one again with everybody on board after the SJFA clubs decided they wanted in and the SFA board did its best to faciliate that through the PWG process during the Petrie/Maxwell era.

Both bank-rolled heavily.

And Bo'ness United didn't exactly storm the Lowland League this season.

Have heard stories of players trying to bargain to have their wages quadrupled, to match offers they are getting from WoSFL teams.  How can teams at that level afford to pay part-timers £30k per year?

Well out of touch with Scottish football evidently because just noticed there that the winners of the Highland v Lowland league champions play-off (Bonnyrigg Rose) now have to play off against the bottom SPFL team (Cowdenbeath). That's even more of a bottleneck than getting into the LL!

Some pyramid this. Imagine playing all season and finishing 42nd of 42 clubs but still having a shot at staying up. Scottish fitba, man!

Cowdenbeath have history regarding winning those play offs.

All wrong, where’s the incentive,Cowdenbeath have played all season to get into this position, relegate them, give other teams a chance to better themselves in the SPFL

Only way u can have a real Tier 5 is a league consisting of top 4 L L teams , top 4 wosfl , top 4 eosfl and top 4 highland league teams all in one league , I know some might say im Missing out sosfl but let’s be honest it’s a Pish league and no place in tier 5 of Scottish football

It’s scandalous that 3 premier league teams can buy themselves into the Lowland League,it’s obviously the committee that wanted the money (£40000) for each team, money grabbers,if the said teams thought so much of their players, why didn’t they opt for a reserve league, instead of farming out players, keep the players in-house and see them progress, rather than buying other countries rejects
