Gnash
Looking for some help from a trains expert please. I would like to make a return journey to Waverley and noticed that I can get a cheaper super off peak return for the times I want to travel - leave after 11am and return after 8pm. I tried to book an mticket but it was making my choose specific times for the outward and return journey. Do I need to stick with these exact times? Or can I travel on any other train that is valid for the super off peak - eg if I book the 8.01 return, can I get the 9.02 return on the same ticket? I have of course trawled through the Scotrail FAQs and there is no straight answer.
vikingTON
You can travel on any valid train (and would almost certainly get away with a slightly earlier one as well).

It's a flexible ticket, despite booking on a train you're not tied to it. Other TOCs do the same, often booking seats on certain trains with a super off peak but you can change if needed.

Obviously with the super off peak you can't leave between 3-8pm on that ticket, but later is fine.
