craigkillie
The league format and promotion/relegation rule when were promoted in 1992/93 were only in place for a total of two seasons (1991/92 and 1992/93), there were numerous format changes during the 1980s and 1990s before the relative stability of the 2000s. Of course, at the time of our promotion, it was a 12 team top flight, so you had to finish 11th or 12th to get relegated. Killie didn't finish outside the top 10 of the top flight until 2007/08, so in fact we would have made it to 15 years rather than the 10 which you claimed. Even in that 2007/08 season, had there been a genuine relegation battle rather than a Gretna-induced dead rubber of a second half to the season, there's no guarantee we would actually have finished 11th.

So if you win the title this year you won't accept the cup as its not a "major trophy" and it won't be in your list of honors?????

One of those was the season Gretna imploded. You should have been down here more frequently which would have been fun to see with that £13m debt. You're not a big club, you're just a diddy club like the rest of us non-bigots. Just remember that. Envy is a terrible thing.

The point was about the claim that your not quite 30 year stint in the top league made you a big club. I merely pointed out that had the same rules been in place during that whole period you wouldn't have made it to 10 years, never mind 30. A diddy club, like the rest of us. At least you’re not upset about it.

U should try it sometime. What a lot of crap!, if you win the league you will celebrate as if you had just won the World Cup, you will not treat it as if you have finished 13th and quite rightly so, just like we did when we won league one a few years back, that's where thos full WFANW rubbish falls down, very few clubs have won a so called major trophy in Scottish football in the modern era outside of the old firm you have done it twice hats off to kille for that but it's few and far between, winning any league title is an achievement no matter what division it is.

The Championship trophy is the original 1st Division trophy which we won. To win it again would mean we won it twice. Despite all your stats above Ayr United does not feature on this trophy. Your history above is in winning lower leagues. As a minor league yo yo team that will happen. All that being said your club appears to have started pointing in an upward direction. Good luck for the future.
No_Problemo
Doesn’t overly sound like Lafferty will be starting, though ultimately it could just be mind games from McInnes...

If you check the history of the Scottish championship for all the difference names its had which is division 2, division b, first division and championship Ayr have won it 6 times we have won what's called the league 1 now 3 times

I reckon Lafferty will play, he was on the bench last week. If he's not fit enough to start we have the new and improved Oli Shaw who looked like a different player last week. Finally a bit of football chat.

If we win it this season we will be the best of the dross.
Buckfast
You forget to mention that you were parachuted bye the first 3 rounds when you won your 2 cups. What an achievement winning a few games to win it. Winning a league over 36 games no matter what league it is, is much more of an achievement than relying on a lucky draw and winning 3/4 games. Amazing that £13 million of debt can buy you 2 cups though.

Superhursty7
You must be very proud.Your missing the point I'm not diminishing killies achievements I would love Ayr to have won the top league, Scottish Cup or League Cup, feck me I'd take the B&Q Cup or whatever we call it now, but to say wining a league outside the top division is not an achievement is bull, hopefully now we have a chairman and MD with vision and plan and some day in the near future these derby's are in the top flight and we are both competing in the latter stages of cup competitions, that would be good for Ayrshire football.
