Queens v Morton

Recommended Posts

Massive game for Queens hopefully can get another win .

Very difficult game  Morton with Imrie in charge play to there strengths long throws corners many high balls into the box difficult to defend against .

Morton look safe now but another crucial game for us

Give us a chance to enjoy today's game and result, please. I know it's more exciting now than a couple of weeks ago, but wait until Sunday at very earliest before starting the next (league) game thread.

The guy takes no joy from a QoS victory.

Wouldn't say we are safe just yet, a win for you and we are 5 points off bottom.

It's an absolute must not lose for us but of course we go into it wanting a win which will see us safe from automatic relegation at least.

We weren't great 1st half yesterday, probably a consequence of Tuesdays game but looked much better 2nd half and really should have won it.

Glad the players have a weeks recovery now as it's been mostly the same team for the last few games now.

Hopefully a right hard game for Queens during the week too to help our cause. Guessing the last thing you want is this game on Tuesday.

How was the performance yesterday? Better under Gibson or smash and grab type?

Certainly not a smash and grab victory yesterday, on 1st half performance we were well worth the lead and could have added a couple more. Ayr came more into it after the break, we lost a couple of attacking wide players through injury in the second half which made us a bit more defensive but we still created a couple of other good scoring chances. Gibson just seems to have got the players playing with a bit of belief and desire and they look a happier bunch as well. The problem is the change could be a bit late to pull us clear of bottom 2 but at least now there is a glimmer of hope and the footballs a bit better to watch as well.

McGlynn said that when We beat Raith, “corners, long throws and crosses, it’s not football”. Should we stop taking corner kicks and crossing the ball to avoid criticism? Also if Raith had a player who could launch a long throw like Strapp would they not use it in the last few minutes if they’re chasing a win?

Hearing rumours that Imrie might even instruct the Morton players to shoot... #antifootball

It was 2-2.

If we lose on Saturday we'd still probably be 7th in the table, and with 8 games to pick up the 12 points or so we'd probably need to be fine. So while it is an important game, it is not an absolute must-not lose - the whole point of building up a gap is that you can afford to lose at least one of these games against Queens or Dunfermline and not be in serious trouble. Only losing both fixtures this month would put us firmly back in the mix.

A draw would be much better for us to just knock Queens' recent revival on its head, but unlike a previous, slaphead manager, we'll still be aiming to win the game. I'm much more content with that outlook than playing for the draw - and if we have genuine aspirations of making a late run into the top half of the table then the three points here are vital.

So, it isn’t an “absolute must-not-lose”, it’s actually an absolute “must win”?  Everything in your world is so black and white, you should be a Pars or Smurn fan……….          😁    (sits back and awaits inevitable rid dot - at least it’ll add a tiny bit of colour to your life   😜)

Bet it’s a draw.

Both of VT's highlighted comments were qualified with logical reasoning which everyone can read and understand.

Everyone bar you apparently.

It's not a must-win, must-not-lose or any other sort of imperative to avoid relegation this season, you imbecile.

Well it's been 10 years since we've managed to keep 4 clean sheets in a row so that's something to aim for this weekend.

For as shit as we were at Cappielow we really should have taken at least a point if not for a minute of implosion so there is a wee bit of confidence going into this. It's a massive game for us. It's arguably one of the easier fixtures we have left so we need to be taking 3 points. A win would drag Morton back into the mix as well.

If it weren't for a minute of not bothering to put pressure on a shot, then you'd have got what you deserved over ninety minutes that day - which was f**k all.

I'm sure it'll be a very different prospect on Saturday though, and our previous two performances at Palmerston this season were hugely disappointing to say the least.

Queens got Gus sacked and we got Johnston sacked so that seems a reasonable trade though.
