Free Agency 2022

Still, nice to see the Cowboys missing out on him.

Vikings trying to trade Hunter and imagine Robert Quinn is available from us, if a team makes the right offer.

Wish DeShaun Watson would make his flipping mind up and stop holding everything up. Maybe trying to find out what the massage parlours are like in each area. Who in their right mind would pick the Falcons and their 3 players?

I think the Colts will be waiting to see if, for some reason, Watson decides to go to Atlanta and Matt Ryan pops loose.

There's a lot of talk over whether Atlanta's offer is actually serious, or whether it's just to mess with the Saints and Panthers, but if it is then I think they're definitely a better landing spot than NO or Cleveland. Ryan is getting to that stage of his career where he's going to have to manage games rather than try to win them, so I don't see it as a similar situation to Cleveland where Watson would be viewed as having pushed a young, enthusiastic QB out of the door. I think Watson has to bear in mind what the lie of the land will be in a year or two from now, because going off his past behaviour he isn't the type of player who will quietly plug away on a dead duck team for a few years while they rebuild the roster. Bucs and Saints are clearly the two competitive teams in the South right now, but as I've already said, I expect the Saints to fall away over the next few seasons, not improve, and I don't see Brady playing beyond this season, so for me if Watson is savvy he'll accept playing on a mediocre team for 2022 in the knowledge that both the Panthers and Falcons are far better placed to see success toward the middle of the decade. I think the terms of the trade will be interesting, because I don't buy this 3x 1sts thing. That's the high bar the Texans have set but I don't think they'll quite get that. I expect it'll be a couple of 1sts, a lower pick or two, and perhaps a player. I can't see Matt Ryan being all that enthusiastic about a trade to Houston, but who knows. I'm not sure they'd want him anyway as they haven't given any indication they are planning on moving away from Mills. Difficult to read that organisation though.

Uchenna Nwosu OLB signs for  a big team on a 2 year $20m deal...swaps the Bolts for the Seahawks.

It will be interesting to see how Nwosu gets on in Seattle because up till now he's been a bit underwhelming for a 2nd round pick. He's still young though and could be one of those guys who develops slowly but consistently right up to 30'ish. I'd have had him back as a back-up/rotational in LA, but not at 10mil a year, and I'd have been disappointed had we gone into 2022 with him pencilled in as a starter again. He flashes very occasionally, but the overwhelming bulk of the time he's just a body and you don't notice him being on the field at all.

Falcons seem to be the new favourites to get Watson.

Imagine they'd have to trade Ryan immediately to make it happen (Colts).

Then I'd guess Jimmy G might go to Browns (he's almost exactly the same as Baker). Mayfield to Panthers maybe?

Assume if Saints don't get Watson, they'll sign Winston up.

Missed Mostert heading off to Miami. Apart from one killer season he was injured far too often. Sometimes the best ability is availability.

I see Kittle and Armstead restructured their deals to help the Niners get below the salary cap whilst still keeping a hold of Jimmy G though it's surely a matter of time before he gets traded or released.

The Miller deal is effectively a 3 year deal, which still carries risk because of age.

OJ Howard in for a year as well.

Only really the Beasley situation and backup QB to be sorted before the draft now.

Forgot about another RB with McKissick staying in Washington, definitely a pass catching specialist required there.

Would love Fitzmagic back as second choice but not sure if he still thinks he's a starter or would be too expensive.

I'm sure that won't lead to any sort of lingering resentment going forward. Nope.

Funny as f**k if Mayfield now goes and has a 5000 yard, 40 TD season as Browns starter, then walks away at the end of the season.

QB David Blough re-signs. Don't all be quaking in yer boots at once now.

LB Jalen Reeves-Maybin signs for the Texans on a 2-year deal worth $7.5 million with $5 million guaranteed. Good player who should do a job in Houston. Given the choice Id've kept Reeves-Maybin over Anzalone.
