Thank goodness we didn't listen to Zelensky.

He's got a bit of a habit of getting ahead of himself in calling for NATO to get directly involved.

There must be one or two leaders in NATO slightly nervous about whether or not he can be trusted not to order his troops to continue in to Russia should Ukranian forces reach the border.

Matched by the satisfaction that your fanboi fantasy of Russia crushing Ukraine and  teaching the West a lesson has been shown to be a wet dream.

'Fantasy' being used very much in the Zelensky's fake news meaning of the word there.

Although he's not the only nationalist in the region to dial up the guilt-trip:

A lack of action will be seen once again as betrayal, as leaving the people of Poland in need, as in September 1939, when Soviet troops invaded Poland from the east in partnership with Nazi troops invading from the west.

Reports of a strike on an airbase in Dzasnkhoi, Crimea tonight - very dark video clips on Telegram, pretty much impossible to verify.

If correct this would be about 150 km from the Dnipro River. 150km due south of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya front-lines would reach the coast of the Sea of Azov. That could make road transportation of military and supplies etc between Crimea and Mariupol under threat.

Ukraine war: 'Likely Kyiv counterattack' in Crimea, Kerch Bridge threat, Zaporizhzhia conditions

By Alasdair Sandford  with AP, AFP, Reuters  •  Updated: 17/08/2022

1. Crimea attacks 'likely part of Ukrainian counteroffensive'

Explosions at key Russian positions in occupied Crimea on Tuesday were "likely part of a coherent Ukrainian counteroffensive to regain control of the west bank of the Dnipro River," according to the US think-tank the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Meanwhile, British defence intelligence said that "Russian commanders will highly likely be increasingly concerned with the apparent deterioration in security across Crimea, which functions as a rear base area for the occupation".

Detonations at an ammunition depot near Dzhankoi were continuing on Wednesday following the previous day's explosions and fires that Russia acknowledged were "an act of sabotage".

It was a vivid reminder of Russia's vulnerability in Crimea and led to chaotic scenes when around 3,000 people had to be evacuated.

"A nearby railway and electricity sub-station were also likely damaged," said the UK defence ministry's daily update, adding that "smoke was rising from near Gvardeyskoye Airbase" in central Crimea, according to Russian media.

Gvardeyskoye and Dzhankoi "are home to two of the most important Russian military airfields in Crimea", British intelligence said.

Was just about to post something similar as I see he is still adamant that it was not anything to do with Ukraine, when even the US first response is not to look to blame Russia you know it's a fair cop. Stop digging the hole and beginning to get the court of public opinion starting to question a lot of your other claims that are made when you are, by and large, accepted to be the victim here.

Indeed. He needs to take the L here and move on. I just can't comprehend how he, and many other Ukrainians, are unable to see where NATO going to war with Russia could ultimately lead, regardless of how desperate they may feel.

Two articles on same page . EU blaming Russia for being in Ukraine anyway and without that this incident would not have happened. Then Poland saying Russia was not the direct cause of this particular incident.

If the Russians hadn't invaded then this could not have happened. Simples!

"Well if they hadn't been Nazis we wouldn't have had to invade.

Put that in your smoke and pipe it!"

Said the Russian Ambassador.

One stray missile landing on a farm very close to the border wasn't going to start a war so people are making much too much out of this. Something clearly aimed at the Rzeszow air base would be a different story.
