Russian invasion of Ukraine

Azovstal has fully surrendered, all of the Azov Battalion have surrendered to Russians and RU have declared "victory in Mariupol". Unclear yet whether they'll be part of a prisoner swap, war trials or some mix of outcomes.

Fair play to the girl. Ride your way to a passport with the first guy you meet then work on getting a richer man later. Very smart.

You can't really blame Tony either, no one is going to be able to resist a hot 22 year old bird who lives in your house. Huge f**k up from the soon to be divorced mother of 2.

I saw they have some Azov guy who made a video a few months ago saying he was going to rape Kadyrov's children. Good luck to him.

...It will be a brutal and ugly artillery slugging match for the next couple of months. Then the armoured vehicles and other kit will begin to flood in. Russia will simply run out of enough trained and willing soldiers.

In the interim though the Ukrainians need to avoid having a relatively large force surrounded in a mini-Stalingrad again in the sliver of the Luhansk oblast they still control because of the Russian victory at Popasna on the 2014 ceasefire line.

Think a lot of people in the west are getting a bit too carried away about how well things are going for Ukraine in the here and now. Better than most people thought possible two months ago no question but the Makarov wasn't sunk, odds on there never was a bridghead NE of Kharkiv and there appear to be serious doubts that behind the lines partisans had anything to do with the recent armoured train incident in Melitopol.

Suspect the next few weeks are going to be very difficult ones for the Ukrainian military because although the Russians have had to lower their expections in a big way they may have finally identified the pincer that is actually doable for them. Guess the calculation is though to get them to go for it and annihilate as much of the attacking force and remaining Russian armour as possible in the process as that will make it easier to advance later.

The Russians will probably give him a medal...they seem big on that side of things.

Remarkable that they had the time to get those painstaking tattoos laid down, in between stints defending that steel plant 'to the death' (read: abject surrender).

Stalin not setting up a similar mobile ink parlour behind the tractor factory at Stalingrad must count as yet another crime against the Soviet defenders of the city.

Open Neo-Nazi units being of course par for the course in any fully functioning state's defence forces.

While Ukraine is clearly not a Nazi state as the Russian regime claims, the Azov battalion group being captured shipped off to a gulag in Kamchatka would be an unqualified victory for everyone involved other than their weirdo sympathisers.

Given the Azov battalion status as a crack unit of national heroes was always going to play right into the Russian propaganda machine once they found nazi sympathisers amongst them, now they can claim all Ukraine forces are nazis and have show trials playing out every night. I didn't know much about the Donbas but I had heard of the Azov Battalion before the war but I thought it was a bunch of right wing football hooligans given weapons like Arkan's Tigers.
