Maybe, but propaganda matters in all of this no? As long as Ukrainians believe and are willing to fight, NATO countries will send them weapons, and so Russians will die. Amongst all of this will be point at which Russian support, such as it is, tips one way or the other. Leverage matters, my point really is, when does Putin lose leverage sufficently to a point where the war is no longer palatable..

It obviously matters outside Ukraine but inside the country not so much. Guys with rifles are irrelevant at this point in a modern war.

NATO can't supply anywhere but the West of the country and the Russians will be looking for trucks crossing the border so it would be suicidal to try.

Did you boycott Scotland games during either war?
How does calling for Russia to be expelled from the World Cup for two days of war with a few hundred dead fit with Saudi Arabia and UAE being allowed to compete after 7 years of waging war on Yemen with over 300,000 dead plus famine and disease on a horrific scale?
The USA invasion of Syria was just as illegal as Russia invading Ukraine but was widely ignored. The UK sells and maintains the weapons that destroy Yemen and is also involved in targeting so are you going to boycott Scotland?
More whataboutery.

Do you oppose the invasion of Ukraine?

A simple yes or no will do.

Cheers velo..... That post was sent to me by an in-law from 'Murca who teaches political science at university, don' t know where he sourced it. you are absolutely correct to question it...... I wondered about the bees too.
I just thought it might offer food for thought...... Expecting our resident experts to eviscerate every point though.

Yes, I'd question his honeyed words, too...

For those who ask: “Why does Ukraine matter? “

This is why Ukraine matters....

It is the second largest country by area in Europe by area and has a population of over 40 million - more than Poland.

Ukraine ranks:

1st in Europe in proven recoverable reserves of uranium ores;

2nd place in Europe and 10th place in the world in terms of titanium ore reserves;

2nd place in the world in terms of explored reserves of manganese ores (2.3 billion tons, or 12% of the world's reserves);

2nd largest iron ore reserves in the world (30 billion tons);

2nd place in Europe in terms of mercury ore reserves;

3rd place in Europe (13th place in the world) in shale gas reserves (22 trillion cubic meters)

4th in the world by the total value of natural resources;

7th place in the world in coal reserves (33.9 billion tons)

Ukraine is an important agricultural country:

1st in Europe in terms of arable land area;

3rd place in the world by the area of black soil (25% of world's volume);

1st place in the world in exports of sunflower and sunflower oil;

2nd place in the world in barley production and 4th place in barley exports;

3rd largest producer and 4th largest exporter of corn in the world;

4th largest producer of potatoes in the world;

5th largest rye producer in the world;

5th place in the world in bee production (75,000 tons);

8th place in the world in wheat exports;

9th place in the world in the production of chicken eggs;

16th place in the world in cheese exports.

Ukraine can meet the food needs of 600 million people.

Ukraine is an important industrialised country:

1st in Europe in ammonia production;

Europe's 2nd’s and the world’s 4th largest natural gas pipeline system;

3rd largest in Europe and 8th largest in the world in terms of installed capacity of nuclear power plants;

3rd place in Europe and 11th in the world in terms of rail network length (21,700 km);

3rd place in the world (after the U.S. and France) in production of locators and locating equipment;

3rd largest iron exporter in the world

4th largest exporter of turbines for nuclear power plants in the world;

4th world's largest manufacturer of rocket launchers;

4th place in the world in clay exports

4th place in the world in titanium exports

8th place in the world in exports of ores and concentrates;

9th place in the world in exports of defence industry products;

10th largest steel producer in the world (32.4 million tons).

Ukraine matters. That is why its independence is important to the rest of the world.

1st in being absolute hard c***s.

Have to be careful as at lot of the pro west/Ukraine reports and claims of men and materiel destroyed seem very optimistic/propagandist and bearing in mind both the horrific cost to life and the reports he has apparently barely committed a 3rd of the available forces so far, i'd just love it if big Vlad has fucked it here.

Good to see the French not mucking about with this.

The WM Tory government would probably just accept a few very large and thick bank note filled envelopes and say nothing to see here now get on your way.

If Russia want to moan then they should be ignored after all they should not be trying to get around sanctions in place on them.

I think you are right.

They should really have been in control of large parts of Ukraine by now but it's doubtful that they control anything of note so far.

They have Chernobyl.

Pretty sure Ukraine will tell them to just fucking keep it

What was wrong with Kiev? Everyone knew where they were with that. Chicken Kiev.

The Ukrainians prefer their capital to be spelt the Ukrainian way not the Russian way. There is a wee explainer here -

I've seen Zelensky's (?) name spelt at least 3 different ways.
