A couple of seasons back there would have been a serious question as to whether BoD actually even wanted to go up. Doubt that's the case now as they probably want to try to reach the SPFL like Cove did but it would be hilarious if they didn't want to, were planning to throw the games and found out by phone they were automatically promoted because Fort William had withdrawn.

They change their tune as soon as the pyramid was introduced.  It’s as if they wanted to wait to gain entry to the HL on the park rather than by application to due to it being a closed shop.

Guess they know now that the HL is going to lose its weakest links in the years ahead making the extra driving worth the effort. Better to replace FW than to have to play against them regularly.

Central to this is the fact that the club’s first choice goalkeeper had returned home to Poland and his replacement was registered on 31st March 2022. This meant that the club felt it did not have enough goalkeepers for the playoffs as well as having few outfield players. So, on Wednesday 20th April 2022, it requested dispensation to play all three players in the playoffs.

Research by the League’s Secretariat uncovered the fact that Fort William FC had at that date 5 players registered who were described as goalkeepers. Consequently, the League’s Office Bearers declined dispensation for all three players and the club was informed accordingly.

During the course of Thursday and Friday, discussions continued and the club then submitted a second request for dispensation with regard to the goalkeeper signed on 31st March 2022. Research by the League’s Secretariat indicated that one of the goalkeepers had been deregistered but four remained on the books so the request for dispensation was denied.

Subsequent discussions with the manager led to the conclusion that club personnel were unaware of the existence of one of the two remaining goalkeepers. The Secretary suggested that this needed checking out. The League was then informed that it appears that this person was unknown to club management and is a member of the armed forces currently away on duty. This had not been included in the second request for dispensation.

That HL statement is incredible. The Fort shat it.

They definitely have. It would’ve been double figures over 2 legs and probably just thought ‘let’s save everyone the bother.’

Christ on a bike. What a shambles of a club. Who forgets about a goalkeeper?

HFL: "Alright Fort, maybe give your pitch a bit of a roll and trim? Might want to line it as well before that big game next weekend?"

Fort: "Don't wanna"

Russian influence???

Surely the manager's FM experience should've helped him keep a database of his players...

The Secretary's retiring, I suspect he might be including his pet dog in this final job.

At the very least their SFA license should be under review. Loads of teams across the country jumping through hoops to get them and these cowboys are constantly falling below the very minimum standard for being a functioning football club.

Them and every other team who don't have their own, or aren't the main tenant, on their ground.

You could have just said 'Clyde' and we'd have been with you on emptying them tbh.

There was something about Fort taking over the lease from the Council, presumably so they could close the gates and stop deer shitting on the pitch and local youth vandalising the place. No idea what happened about it.

That statement is superb. Fort don’t know their arse from a hole in the ground, which is interesting because a hole in the ground is what they’ve been trying present as a pitch for nearly forty years.

Folk on their Pussbook page still insisting they’re being harshly dealt with.

The 31st January rule does seem a bit early, especially compared with other play-offs - 1st March for the pyramid play-off and there doesn't seem to be a rule for the LL play-off. Is there a reason why it is that date?
