Brechin's Bar in Govan is often called The Black Mans, this in relation to the statue of not a black man on the corner.

It can be Black Man, Dog, Car etc. But not Bitch, and definitely not cuñt.

How can anyone feel ashamed of a pub named after a dog...

It appears to be a local tradition in the town dating back centuries:

You getting into a total nick over this is pretty much the least surprising thing on P&B ever.

Our local tradition (I live just across the Forth) was to tie local women to a rock on the beach just before the tide came in.

Fife, 1650

"Did you get Witchfinder Par to tie up that witch?"

"Aye, but he got caught in the rope and drowned while the witch escaped..."

Im going to Linlithgow on Saturday.

Well Bo'ness, same thing.

I am in Linlithgow on Saturday as well (the real one 😉).

All the locals I know think Greene King are being a bit silly about the pub name...............although none of them would be seen at the Gammon protest.

They also all think the pub is pish (we certainly never drink there if we are out).

Are there any other pub names the folk of P&B find objectionable?

As an aside the Red Lion in Aberdeen was known as The Beastie but I don't think Prince Andrew ever drank in there.

I've always meant to go, but by the time I get off the train and drop into all the other pubs and the club on the way to the game, I never quite reach it.
