deegee
There are several types of Missing Persons, from even reading this thread. You get the utterly bizarre cases where folk, for apparently no reason, just simply vanish and never heard of again. You get the probable suicide/ death by misadventure, where folk (like the RAF fella) are assumed to have been killed and bodies not found. The ones which are spooky and very sad are the probable murders which go unsolved and no convictions. One which I always think about is the Claudia Lawrence case. 35 years old, vanished in 2009 and despite a very middle class schooling and upbringing, had a shadowy, clandestine personal life with hints of her having several relationships with married or dodgy fellas. Reading some of the reports, journalists were warned off several times and her disappearance has never been solved. You have to think she had a horrific end by some jealous or resentful partner. A bit like quite a few of these cases, there are probably a few leads that just didn’t have the missing piece of the jigsaw for the police to get a conviction in a courtroom, allowing wrong ‘uns to walk around free.

Eta That's the last I heard dunno if there's been anything confirmed recently I think that was always likely the case I just don’t know why they weren’t able to find her. It’s not like the currents are that strong around the beach there that she would have been swept that far out to sea without being washed back up somewhere. The lad from Musselburgh seems about the same - he was last seen getting his hair cut on north high steer and then nobody has a clue. The dad was offering a £1k reward for any info but it didn’t seem to be getting anywhere either.

I've been fortunate to have only slept rough three times so far. Paris, Wigan and Edinburgh. All single nights and all self-inflicted through a combination of lack of planning and stupidity. Lifeboat, disused train carriage, station platforms, cars, etc and an attempt to shelter in a grit bin...it wasn't much use.

Richey Edwards
My younger sister had a mental health crisis and was reported missing about six months ago. It was honestly one of the scariest things I have experienced. The whole time between finding out that she was missing and her being found by the police was agonising. I posted an appeal online and some of the comments from some people were disgusting. I honestly wanted to smash their faces in with a brick. The horrible things people say online for a few likes is horrendous. If you haven't got anything useful to say, then say nothing and scroll on.

Yeah I heard that from a few people, there’s only so many places he would have gone and overdosed though unless he was into ODing in very remote places. Alice being last seen in broad daylight and never again is also very strange. Someone surely must know something and isn’t coming forward.
