It's nothing new and I'm not even sure if it's a rule as such, it's normally part of a loan agreement.
parsforlife
SPFL rules certainly prevent playing against your parent club. Rightly so IMO, it just creates a messy situation.

Tranent fail to recapture their dominant form of Friday as Syngenta come from behind to claim 1pt. This pool remains very hard to call. Linlithgow recover ground, though topping the pool is out of their hands as other sides can reach 10pts. Blackburn effectively eliminated. Tynecastle land a strong start.

HibeeJibee
Armadale Thistle 1-1 Jeanfield Swifts Thornton Hibs 2-4 Glenrothes This pool remains competitive but with Jeanfield having home games v Thornton and Glenrothes left, they're favourite to progress. Armadale will want a heavy win v Tweedmouth on Saturday. Lothian Thistle HV 1-0 Preston Athletic Bathgate Thistle 1-0 Dunipace Dunipace are eliminated Surprise loss at Bathgate ends Dunipace hopes. Victory at Stirling Uni EOS in midweek will effectively win section for LTHV albeit on paper other outcomes remain mathematically possible. Newtongrange Star 1-5 Bo'ness Athletic St Andrews United 3-0 Rosyth Newtongrange Star are eliminated Having led early, a startling capitulation from Newtongrange sees them crash out. Sauchie know avoiding defeat to them Wednesday will be enough to top pool... whilst Bo'ness Athletic and St Andrews face a dramatic showdown on Saturday. Burntisland Shipyard 1-0 Dundonald Bluebell Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts 2-1 Newburgh Burntisland Shipyard are eliminated Newburgh are eliminated Burntisland has proven an incredibly Jekyll-&-Hyde outfit of late. Dundonald v Edinburgh College on Wednesday will help fix who are in driving seat on Saturday then following Wednesday. Broxburn Athletic (seven) 7-1 Fauldhouse United Craigroyston 1-2 Coldstream Craigroyston are eliminated Fauldhouse United are eliminated We've come a long way in 6yrs or so - from the days Broxburn and Fauldhouse were finishing near each other in the old juniors. Leith v Broxburn settles it on Saturday: hosts needing to win. Arniston Rangers V-V Edinburgh South Hill of Beath Hawthorn 2-0 Livingston United Livingston United are eliminated This group has been reduced to somewhat of a shambles by postponements and cancellations. Realistically any of the top 4 could yet make it out and hard to say who will even be favourites. Heriot-Watt University 3-1 Lochgelly Albert Musselburgh Athletic (eight) 8-1 Pumpherston Lochgelly Albert are eliminated Pumpherston are eliminated Heriot-Watt Uni can no longer top section. Musselburgh v Haddington now looks an outstanding spectacle next Saturday - draw would suit Burgh while it might leave Hi Hi biting their nails. Ormiston 0-1 Stoneyburn Whitehill Welfare 1-1 Kennoway Star Hearts Ormiston are eliminated Proving an interesting section - Whitehill know victory at Dunbar on Saturday will be enough, but Kennoway can put pressure on both with victory over Stoneyburn whose hopes are tenuous. Camelon 3-5 Tranent Syngenta (nine) 9-0 Hawick RAU Hawick RAU are eliminated Lochore Welfare are eliminated Belters won a high scoring encounter at Mariners while the Dyes blew away the Albert. Camelon v Syngenta on Wednesday is key for both as Tranent will go for goals v Hawick on Saturday. Dalkeith Thistle 3-2 West Calder United Dalkeith have put up a great showing in this section, though it has now opened-up for Luncarty or Linlithgow to mount a charge for top spot and West Calder's only tie left is at Prestonfield. Edinburgh United 1-5 Penicuik Athletic Oakley United 1-2 Whitburn Penicuik trailed early but ultimately ran away with it at Paties Road whilst Whitburn ground out key win in Fife. Penicuik v Whitburn on Wednesday now represents the fulcrum of this pool. Kinnoull (nine) 9-0 Easthouses Lily Kirkcaldy & Dysart 3-1 Tynecastle Easthouses Lily are eliminated Kirkcaldy will progress provided they don't lose at struggling Lily on Saturday. This result means that realistically Bo'ness Athletic and St Andrews both need to win their encounter on Saturday to sustain hopes of a runners-up slot. Dundonald Bluebell 5-4 Edinburgh College Incredible encounter in Cardenden where the pupils of Conference X almost taught their Premier Division masters a lesson. However their 3-4 lead did get overturned late on. They'll study the form to try and beat Newburgh on Saturday then hope likely decider Dundonald v Inverkeithing on Wednesday ends in stalemate. Primrose move to pole position in what remains a very open section. Camelon 3-4 Syngenta Camelon are eliminated Remarkable game in canal country with Conference X landing knockout blow upon Premier hosts. Tranent must try to beat Hawick by 7+ goals on Saturday to top group... frankly it's doable you'd have to say... but 10pts may see either through regardless. Penicuik Athletic 1-3 Whitburn Edinburgh United are eliminated Result of the night goes to the Conference X men of West Lothian for an even more impressive victory at Premier leader Penicuik. Crow
Penicuik came flying out the traps but the Whitburn defence stood firm and they went on to deservedly win at a wintry Penicuik Park. I’m struggling to see how United can still top the group HJ?

You can't finish top, plus you seem to actually be eliminated as I don't see how fewer than 4 other groups can end-up without 2nd having at least 7pts and GD better than -2. Yer oot.
