Is Boris Johnson the worst PM of all time?

I didn't realise the strength of the Czech army and manufacturing at the time, but they also had the problem of controlling their German speaking and Slovak minorities who were increasingly pro German, or at least against the Prague Government.

What exactly do you think the 'Sudeten' Germans would have done exactly? The Prague government seamlessly mobilised in a war scare in May 1938 and there was absolutely nothing that Henlein and the German population could do to stop it. Nothing changed between then and Munich. The Bohemian German republics were rolled up in 1918 without the Czechs breaking a sweat and they would have needed about 0.3 seconds after declaring a state of emergency to round up every leader they could find and toss them in jail.

They weren't the Vietcong, they were a bunch of beetroot-faced clerks.

Then we have "the Slovak minority". Firstly, the comfortable majority of Slovaks were in favour of the existing Republic:

(Parties 3-8 were all centralist - forming a majority of all votes cast in Slovakia. Once you remove the huge Hungarian minority vote, the centralists won the Slovak vote by roughly 60-40 at the height of the Depression.)

Secondly, the autonomist Slovak nationalist party were a bunch of fucking priest-politicians. They were the absolute polar opposite of a credible paramilitary organisation to threaten a militarised and well-organised state.

You have to take into account that most of the politicians at the time had direct experience of the horrors of WW1 and would do just about anything to avoid a repeat.

And yet there were many politicians in the 1930s who had the exact same wartime experiences and yet concluded that a revisionist Germany under Hitler's auspices still had to be confronted to a prevent a wider and more disastrous conflagration from occurring. It's almost as if they had agency and were expected to do something, in their roles as Prime Minister of the UK or Premier of France.

Chamberlain and his Berlin sycophant Neville Henderson are categorically on the wrong side of history and I'll have no truck with the revisionism doing the rounds yet again.

You're the one talking about having the keys to the Skoda factory being the "tipping point" in a comprehensive demolishing by the Wehrmacht, a Wikipedia reader's level of analysis and framing, to try and look clever so maybe be less of a total dickhead to folk?

Easy to act the hardman when you have a keyboard to hide behind.

What an embarrassment

...says the poster who used the word dickhead in a post while hiding behind a monitor. Beyond that who would have guessed that suggesting Neville Chamberlain shouldn't have pursued appeasement and that doing so made him a bigger failure than BoJo could lead to such a backlash.

Stop handing out threats from behind the screen. It’s cowardly behaviour as you know nothing will come of it. It just makes you look like a shitebag twat.

I hadn't realised that one objective of Brexit was to have bigger and better lorry queues than before, but it's clearly just another great success that we will be seeing the benefits of anytime now. 🤔

Queueing is the one thing we British have always done better than everyone else, and Brexit has allowed us to continue to lead the world in this respect
