Lofarl
What do you think? Good idea that will save a few quid or terrible idea and it will be the death of a classic institution.

D Angelo Barksdale
A wee nod from the tories to the right wing press that they can stop the Boris and his parties stuff now. I expect Murdoch will get first dibs on it
Bob in Denny
Let it find its own revenue.. It can still produce class programming. The board of governors will be choking on their gins as we speak.... next? the honours system please...
Popular Post Clown Job
The BBC is more than just the News which some people fail to see That’s another public service gone thanks to the Tory and you can guess who will benefit from its disappearance… I’ll give you a hint it won’t be the likes of you and me
welshbairn
I'd miss it for the radio more than anything they do on TV.
Michael W
The only certainty here is that many of the people that complain about the licence fee and how unfair it is will now suddenly be defending it. At any rate I don't think this will happen. Seems very much the "red meat" being thrown to try and keep the wolves away from devouring the wounded Prime Minister.

Monkey Tennis
It's potentially calamitous if it goes. It gets lots wrong, but is actually a pretty wonderful institution. It's incredible how cheap the licence fee is. There is no mystery as to why Tories want it gone.

Yeah, the BBC is already incredibly London / English centric If they’re moving to a for profit model, does anyone genuinely believe Scottish based content will improve?

Whole thing is a joke... Wasn't until a couple of years ago that I realised that the BBC have a million and one different regional offices. I quite naively thought that we had one because of the whole 'country of four nations' thing until I went to Nottingham and saw that they had their own BBC East Midlands thing going on. You'd like to think that's the kind of stuff that would be thrown on the scraphead first. Edited January 16, 2022 by Hedgecutter

Just keep the same level of government funding from general taxation, whilst saving millions on paying Capita to collect licence fee payments.

red23
Saved a cool 2k by not having one. Paid in 2010 then forgot and got reminders through the door claiming i was automatically guilty and they "will enter my house to check". Got my back up and never paid since. Sending shit like that to people older and bit more vulnerable is utterly shocking.

red23
Looking back on this now is funny but sure it was pretty scary back in the day. Dark ominous film like productions complete with creepy music. How did these fkers have the audacity to behave like this. Which one is your fav? I'll go for Dave and the depressed TV.
