Funky Nosejob
The decade where music lost its way and, unsurprisingly, has never merited a revival. It started off on a drug fuelled experimental high before veering off into yacht rock, teddy boy tributes and multiple novelty hits for The Wombles, Little Jimmy Osmond and, most depressingly of all, The Smurfs. Ultimately, it took punk to shake it out of its stupor. But there were still some diamonds in the rough. Let’s hear your gems. And, to show I’ve no gripe with disco done well, this “ear worm” track.
paranoid android
Actually think the 70s is probably where rock music peaked. Of course it got silly, and punk brought things back down to earth. And, of course, the pop charts were littered with bubblegum and novelty records, but that was probably always the case. Don't think we see too many so-called 'novelty' records these days, do we? Wonder why? Albert Hammond has written many a hit song - interesting that his recent touring band were pretty much Scotland-based lads - probably due to the involvement of Dave Paton. The 70s - a great bunch of lads!
