Coaching Carousel, 2022

Jags having Doug Pederson in for a 2nd interview. Seems too sensible an appointment, but he might scupper it himself anyway since he's allegedly not particularly keen to work with Trent Baalke, which was a view supposedly held by Byron Leftwich as well.

Texans are, bizarre as it seems, apparently genuinely considering Josh McCown for their HC gig, despite the fact that his only coaching experience whatsoever is two years as an assistant at his son's High School team.

And Khan has apparently no intention of punting Baalke

Baalke was certainly divisive at the 49ers. He did draft well, with guys like Armstead, Ward, Buckner and Tartt all picked up under him.

I read an interview with Jimmy Ward at the time that the 49ers were at the Jags in the regular season, Ward was saying that not only would Baalke regularly turn up on the training field, but he would tell players what they were doing wrong.

Can we just have one fucking year when the Rams coaching staff isn't absolutely decimated? Ejiro, really highly rated DBs coach is away to be a DC and O'Connel is away to the Vikes as HC.

The job the Rams have done to remain consistently competitive despite losing multiple important coaches every year since 2017 is remarkable.

Chargers HC, Packers HC, Bengals HC, Vikings HC have all come from the Rams in the past 4 seasons. Plus several other coaches into less senior positions. So irritating.

That's always been the way with persistently competitive teams, and it's why the HC competence and continuity is so important, and why it tends to be teams with stability at QB and a system that doesn't drastically change regardless of who they install to coach it who stay competitive.

Yeah, it's a pain in the arse alright, but it's a sign of a fundamentally sound structure and organisation at your franchise.

If the coaches that are leaving are promoted, then you should get a compensatory draft picks. Like a 3rd rounder maybe.

If the coach isn't white, then you get another compensatory draft pick.

Annoyingly wedding get anything for Champ Kelly or Sean Desai going, as they were sideways moves.

Only minority candidates, only for HC and GM appointments, and only if they've been there two years minimum. No picks for losing white candidates or DC/OCs. We got picks for losing Brad Holmes to be the Lions GM last year.
