What was Hedges meant to do there? The keeper flies out several feet in the air and stops him in his track. Ball is already passed him, any contact in that situation is a foul, and surely denying a clear goalscoring opportunity in this case.

Has McGregor turned into Superman?

What does the phrase "what was Hedges meant to do" mean here? He's not meant to do anything, but simply brushing against someone whilst chasing after a ball doesn't constitute a foul. You don't get fouls for simply getting on the end of a long ball.

If you mean "what's he meant to do in order to win a foul", then he needs to angle his run towards McGregor a bit more and take a bigger hit. It would be cheating, but would most likely earn him a foul.

How much bigger a hit?

This is a wild take.

Aberdeen boy is running.  McGregor is swinging like a rusty gate at a ball that isn’t there any more.  A clearer foul you won’t see.

Aye, not getting this requirement to take a bigger hit. A foul is a foul whether its a clip or a clattering. Playing the man in that scenario is a foul unquestionably, because the man has played the ball past you and you have been caught out. If you are unable to avoid the subsequent contact as the defender, you have fouled him.

It’s an incident being discussed on a match thread for a game on sky. This copy and paste retort from twitter doesn’t really add up tbh.

You see it every time rangers are on sky. As if no one other than rangers fans and the fans of the team they’re playing are allowed to watch and comment on it.
