Obviously no idea of who’s fit or who’s got knocks etc but having your best centre back, best central midfielder and best striker all sitting on the bench seems like a bold strategy. Good to see Shaw and Tierney involved though.

Didn't clock Sir Richard Lamie on your bench tbh.

“Going with 5 at the back, three centre halves, it does look like Morton will be going for containment”

That’s literally our system chief, and we’ve had no bother scoring with it.

We haven't really done a thing in an attacking sense, but at the same time we're not being overwhelmed defensively either. Few times Lithgow and McLean have been threatened by Motherwell's pace up top, and Hamilton has made a couple of very good saves.

What a terrible first half.... use as many would have expected.

Not much of a threat apart from a few shots. No real pressure and the defense? My god we might be even worse than against Ross County. Atleast it's only 0-0 at half time.

If Motherwell had a better final ball then they'd be one or two up. McLean is getting exposed down our left hand side for being nowhere near quick enough to cover wide spaces. Oliver in the middle of the park makes it too easy to test that area. On the other hand, we look well capable of nicking a goal largely against the run of play.

Nick Walsh's policy of randomly booking Morton players for minor/non-existent fouls, while letting objectively worse fouls away at the other end is infuriating. There hasn't been a bad challenge, but he is setting double standards so far.

Rumour has it McLean is still chasing the Motherwell forward. Have to imagine that gap in behind him will cost us at some point.

Shite scrappy game that feels like an NFL game with all the stoppages. That suits us though as Motherwell are a yard sharper than us on and off the ball. We are competing well though and Hamilton and Brandon have been good with Lyon coming on to a game as it went on.

Feels like a bottom half championship team vs a shite Prem Team tbh. Getting exactly what you'd expect.

Brandon was warned he was on his last chance or he was getting booked then fouled again so no issue with his booking.

Blues one looked soft in stadium but I was told by someone watching on TV that he completely took the well player out.

Motherwell are getting far too much joy out of targeting McLean's lack of pace with a ball in behind Strapp when he pushes up, but even if you rejigged this to a back four to let Strapp protect him more they'd still be able to try it unless we sit so deep we give them the run of midfield which would also let them pick us off eventually. There's been good last ditch defending from the whole defence at various moments but poor final balls from Motherwell are the main thing keeping this at 0-0.

Barring that chance right on half time we've not really looked like doing anything, but staying in a game at Fir Park at all is a welcome change. If we continue to ride our luck defensively it's not out of the question we scramble something from a set piece if we actually manage to beat the first man.
