No clue. He was a used sub in Grant's last game, but not used since. Shields said he was available for Inverness away but not selected at all.

No fucking clue what's going on there. We desperately could do with the Iain Wilson that played against St Johnstone in the cup last season.

Apparently fully fit. He was on the bench v Partick in the cup. But, for some unknown reason, neither Grant or Yogi seem interested in playing him. He’s clearly better than any other midfielder we have, so it’s really odd. Continually playing Matty Todd, Dan Pybus and Paul Allan ahead of Wilson is baffling.

Unlike a lot of others, I think Dorrans is a good player in our midfield and like him in between defenders and midfield. But I’d also be keen to see Wilson given a shot there at some point.

I too like Dorrans, but the problem is that you need to play him in the quarter back position to get the best out of him. This means that you need to play a 3 man central midfield as one ahead of Dorrans will get swamped. This then leads to having an isolated centre forward.

We really do seem to have an issue with choosing between 3 cm's or 2 forwards. How do the teams doing well in this league get over this conundrum? It seems to have been a problem for us for many years.

I'm guessing our weak central midfield is the big issue here. Two good CM's would maybe allow two forwards?

Wilson might help out but he’s definitely benefitted from absence making the heart grow fonder. He’s barely played 20 league games for us.

As chubbychops mentions, the midfield is weak but we’ve known this since pre-season.

Well, I think you have made the point there. It's his absence that is making people see just how good he is and how much he is missed. I can't remember him ever having anything other than a good 7/10 game or better. We really do miss him in all honesty.

Agree with this. Having someone in that deep role really removes potential attacking threats. But he’s not the only midfielder incapable of playing in a 2. In fact, I’d argue Wilson is the only player we have that’s suited to playing in a 2 in the middle of the park.

If Dom is out long term, I’d be tempted to suggest a midfield diamond/ 4-3-1-2 type system as we would have absolutely no wide players that will provide any threat anyway. But I know Yogi’s big on getting wide players on the ball, so that’s maybe not an option.

Starting Kennedy and MacDonald as wide midfielders/wingers again will be like starting 2 men down. We need some sort of link between midfield and attack and I’m not sure we have anyone capable of that role behind the strikers either. Maybe a fit Ryan Dow, but he’s been a shadow of his former self since returning. Could we even try Dorrans in that kind of role? I honestly have no idea.

We need to address so many issues in the team and it simply isn’t possible to solve all of our problems in January. Because of the mess of a squad that Grant has left behind, avoiding relegation will be a good outcome this season, it’s as simple as that. Which means results like Saturday can’t happen too many more times. Need to get results against the other bottom half teams.

Forget the midfield, it's a lost battle. Just throw on O'Hara, Todorov, Wighton and McCann up front JC style.

And that grey-haired boy who was doing the dug-out to marquee run on Saturday, he was rapido & stayed on his feet for the 90 unlike our loan winger.

Is Yogi a hard work/patter/honest laddie above talent in all cases?

Like maybe WIghton/Wilson/Todorov's patter just isn't up to much so they're patched...

Not sure about Yogi picking folk based on banter quality but certainly think the hard work qualities will see lesser talented players picked.

He seems to like a target man up front so Todorov will battle it out with McCann. I think he is very keen to blood our young players.

O'Hara may find himself playing wider now that Thomas is out.

Wighton can look a bit lethargic and I have a feeling that Yogi won't like that much.  It would be a waste, as he is the most talented of all our strikers.

On Wilson, I would say that he look well off the pace when he returned. In the two games he played he didn't close down the Raith goalscorer and the next game against Arbroath he watched the Arbroath player run past him for one of their goals. I just don't think he was near fit.

Last season Wighton and Todorov were joint 2nd top goal scorers in the Championship. Wighton with 9 goals in 18 games, and Todorov with 9 goals in 26 games. O'Hara was joint 6th with 8 goals in 24 games. We should have more than enough firepower with the right service to the front players.

AJ to be emptied before Saturday after tonight's result?

Looks to of had a fairly depleted squad so hope he gets Saturday's game, that said if I was Falkirk I would be on the phone he's a specialist of getting out league 1.

Will take your word for it as I missed a lot of games last season due to it feeling rather meaningless with no crowds.

Dom needs an operation and will be out for several weeks - apparently been playing through the injury (tear in meniscus). Wilson (heel injury) and Cole (dead leg) haven’t trained this week. Yogi’s hopeful Breen will be fit for this weekend.
