No, it stops at the white cliffs of Dover, by Britannia! Beyond this sceptred isle, the moral and political purview ends and the ethnics savages beyond can drown.

You’ll hear how’s it’s important not to put up a border because we share a small island together and we have a common interest

Of course this argument is unique to our island, they won’t dare discuss elsewhere

Aye, it’s strange how so many UK nats just refuse to acknowledge the existence of the island of Ireland nor of the issues arising from their Brexit on that island.

But that won’t stop Northern Irish loyalists loving their UK and its masters - no, sir. They’ll just demonstrate that love with pipes, marches, and bonfires. Maybe throwing in the sacrifice of live goats will show them how strong and enduring that love is? They’ll notice that, right? They’ll love them back then, right?

ETA: Neil Breen! Well done. We could use him and his hacking abilities to expose all that UK National and international corruption that he knows is going on.

I read this article and it follows many of recent times in which McWhirter has sold his journalistic integrity to dance to the right-wing editorial tune of The Herald.

His colleague Kevin McKenna meanwhile has the best job in Scotland; write basically the same two articles repeatedly thro the year on a 4/1 ratio.  One is a condemnation of the SNP littered with references to 'elites' and cod appeals on behalf of the poorest communities, and the second is basically a regular rant against anyone who does not share his religious indoctrination.

I often wonder how Scottish society would survive without the contributions of these sages.

McKenna will also sometimes bring his “Private Schools are destroying the world” article out of hibernation, where he regularly claims he deliberately failed the entrance exam at a certain school in Glasgow when he was of primary school age.

Jesus. How many folk read The Herald or The Scotsman these days? They must be down to five figures between them surely?

Surprised its that high to be honest.

Poor Stephen. All those vitriolic replies from those nasty Nats (the Scottish ones, not the nice UK ones) are going to send him straight to the fridge.

With the developments over the last few days, he'll have a Hell of a job getting BoJo out first.

Yep, looks like the starting gun has been fired right enough. I think if you're saying that democracies round the world deny a referendum and you still argue that's a democratic course, despite it being an accepted part of SNP policy, you're in Humpty Dumpty territory. Any similarities between Humpty and Stephen purely coincidence...

When I use a word,’ Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, ‘it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less.’

So farewell then Iain McWhirter, the journalist formerly known as decent.  No more 'hideously shite' right-wing articles will we read in The Herald.

Deliciously funny seeing him get the boot.

Always thought he was a sanctimonious lefty.
