Where were you sitting again 🤣

Upper South Stand. Posh seats . Same area as I was when Lewis Ferguson scored and Aberdeen beat us and when Celtic won League cup with offside goal.

Never thought I’d be getting escalators to a seat.

Don’t worry. We ll soon be going on about 56 and our triumphant return to the Champions League

When the f**k were you going on about 54?
Oh that’s right, it’s all about kidding yourselves on that you believe you’re supporting the same team and they didn’t actually go into liquidation.

You let your club die.
55 stands for the 55k fans who went every 2nd week and yet still couldn’t save the club.

Or maybe 55 stands for the amount of times you have to say ‘ it really is the same Rangers’ before you brainwash your mind and you genuinely think it’s true?

1 (yip 1 major trophy for all that new debt racked up, what an achievement) 🤣🤣👍👍

Ok , by that,   we were possibly slightly misled  at our meeting . At the time The Spartans were applying to get in and as there was a space becoming available they would have been admitted.  However  we were informed that Rangers in whichever form were to take their place . We therefore assumed that they also would have  had to apply. This was of course pre-pyramid.

Your interpretation suggests that Rangers didn't need to apply which shows a complete disregard of procedure from the SFL  (I actually thought it was the SPFL) .  This makes sense now as our members were also asked to pass a motion from the SFL/ SPFL to admit the club at level 2 as anything else would create an armageddon effect for Scottish football.

I think the main vote you mention was from member clubs after all clubs had discussed and decided which way they would vote based on the information given  out by the SFL/SPFL . I would therefore have assumed that indeed an application might have been lodged prior to the clubs voting .

It was all rushed through very quickly as there was a desperation from Rangers to know what level of football they would be playing (if at all)  as all this was happening just before the Challenge cup and  League cup was due to begin.  Procedures therefore were probably not as they should have been especially with the mixed feelings of justice / injustice from both sides.

There was no procedure which required clubs to apply, this is an ongoing myth which has grown arms and legs over the last decade. Spartans were not applying for entry at any point because there was never a vacancy advertised - Rangers were removed from the SPL and replaced by Dundee, at which point the SFL clubs voted to allow Rangers to enter Division 3.

Had they rejected that motion, then a vacancy would have been created and Rangers would have presumably applied at that point anyway, and would almost certainly have been elected ahead of Spartans or anyone else. All that would have been achieved would have been an even longer delay.

It would definitely be a different story nowadays with a full pyramid in place.

I was led to believe that Spartans had applied at the time Peterhead  (I think)  got in . It was mentioned in certain circles that they would be the next club to get in if a vacancy arrived as they met all the licencing requirements . This talk obviously reared again when all the scenarios were being discussed in 2012.

Was there not  technically an SFL vacancy when Dundee took the place of Rangers when they were liquidated and  relinquished their league status ?  This highlights the  glaring flaw in the process by not automatically replacing  each space from the league below . Instead the SPFL/SFL/ SPL executive  came up with a scaremongering scenario to fast track the new club into tier2 , warning that it would be financial suicide to consider anything else.  Probably shitting themselves at the prospect of seeking sponsorship without one half of the old firm . Thank god the lower league clubs stood their ground and never caved in to that .

I had forgotten how rotten that old SPL/SFL set up was and the above scenario  is possibly one of the reasons the SPFL became the one  governing body  in 2013 along with the opening up of the bottom league at that time too.

Worth your club dying just to beat Celtic to a league title? Really?

If the oldco hadn’t died Celtic most likely wouldn’t have got near 10.

Aye but Celtic losing just any old title would not have resulted in the barrier chucking , sqaud chasing scenes I glowingly look back on from last season

as I said it ALMOST made it all worthwhile . Certainly was a fitting closure on the whole affair
