Scottish Cup 4th Round 21/22 - who're you wanting?

Which would be a lot for the majority of sides in the competition.

Scottish Cup games usually have a higher ticket price, bring in a bigger crowd both for the gate and hospitality, and usually aren't on the season ticket. More money = more money. Not everyone is pocketing tens of thousands of pounds for simply existing in the SPFL.

I know, that's why I highlighted it, but my point was that is the exception. It's incredibly unlikely that you'd get that draw so you have to weigh up whether a more typical draw makes the replays worth it.

I don't really understand your second paragraph. Firstly what you say is not true as a rule. In the early rounds Scottish Cup gates are normally lower gates when involving SPFL sides, because they aren't on the season ticket.  And a result clubs often lower their prices to get fans in. Anyway, my point is that actually participating in these games can cost thousands of pounds when you factor in all the costs, so simply saying that more games will equal more money is way too simplistic when the gates are a few hundred. As an example from the last round Dalbeattie had a replay against Rothes which is a 10 hour round trip to play in front of 194 people. I've little doubt that they'll have made a loss from that replay once you add in all the expenses of an extra game that far away. That's a pretty typical scenario for a 1st or 2nd round replay. The chances of a higher earning replay increase into the 3rd round but as mentioned the likelihood is of a crowd of a few hundred and that any profit will be minimal.

I'm not strongly for or against replays, my only strong view is that it should be consistent through the tournament. But I'm not really convinced that the ability for lower league clubs to get a replay before the 4th round is particularly important financially.

Braw. A bye to the next round.

Hope that disnae come back to bite you and the rest of us on the bum. One saving grace it that it's an artificial grass surface. We might be able to get a passing game going depending on the quality of said surface.

1) Ayr - lovely, old ground with terracing. Large allocation guaranteed. Direct trains from Paisley. Ideal.

I'll just quote my original post. 😎

Second: replays upto R3 don't have to be midweek unless both clubs prefer it... e.g. Montrose v Kelty is this Saturday.

Host club, not both clubs. Hence the scenario between us and Cove where they wanted a second attempt (whether postponement or replay) on the next saturday and we wanted midweek. SFA backed the host club to decide. Hence rearrange date had saturday been off was next saturday but replay date at Palmerston is the Tuesday.

Peterhead v East Kilbride
Clydebank v Annan
Banks o’ Dee v Raith Rovers
Motherwell v ICT or Morton
Kelty or Montrose v St Johnstone
LivI v Ross County
Dumbarton v Dundee
Aberdeen v Edinburgh City
Rangers v Stirling Albion
Ayr Utd v St Mirren
Killie v Dundee Utd
Hibs v Cove Rangers
Patrick Thistle v Airdrie
Auchinleck Talbot v Hearts
Alloa v Celtic
Arbroath v Brechin or Darvel

Disappointing waste of my time watching the draw then. 🙁

Quite possible there could be 3 out of 5 non league sides get through to the last 16. Add more pressure on the spfl to open up to the pyramid.

I think the system's good the way it is. No need to open it up further, thank you. :)

Which 3 out of 5 do you think could get through?

I think EK and Clydebank both have a great chance. I have seen EK, Clydebank and Annan play this season and neither Peterhead or Annan playing great. Then in order of likelyhood from the other 3, BoD at home could surprise Raith, likewise Darvel/Brechin against Arbroath could surprise especially if Brechin got through the replay and with the added spice of an Angus derby. Talbot least likely but then again they are playing at home with a full house behind them.
