Scotland v Ukraine

Gordon’s decision making in terms of when/when not to charge out has always been a weird point to his game. Was a massive issue in Europe when he played for Celtic - where half decent strikers would just leave him in no man’s land.

Yeah I dunno about Doig. Feels like his progress completely stalled this season.
If the LCB can't give us the line-breaking passing though, even just sending him forward as a legitimate crossing threat would make a big difference. Make the opposition account for him.
I still like him but following up a good first season in professional football with a poorer second season is always going to draw concern. Ramsay's another who's seemingly deflated a lot of hype recently, although he's almost certainly gonna be playing backup in a top league next season which could do him some good.

Your opinions on football are fucking dogshit mate.

Bale isn’t as good as he once was, fair enough. He’s still fucking light years ahead of any player we have going forward.

I think last night showed that we clearly aren’t a better side than Ukraine.

McGinn really showing last night that he should be playing Champions League football as well. Klopp & Pep getting the chequebooks out as we speak to start a bidding war.

Good you agree that Bale is indeed a faded force, let's see what side he picks up now. Would be fairly shocked if it's a CL team, he's finished at the top level.

And yeah clearly last night did show Ukraine are better, we underperformed and they played well. It's sport mate, how it goes sometimes.

Last night doesn't at all affect what a terrific season McGinn had, or what a good player he is, but I expect he will be staying at Aston Villa. A key player at a club on the up.

Trying to recover from a hangover, have admitted to a f**k up on a thread on P&B, but you of all people trying to take the piss takes the fucking biscuit.

Not just a witless walloper then, but touchy too.

Interesting.

No-one is saying they're infallible. Just better than us They're capable of off days.

By the same token so are we (capable of off days). No argument that Ukraine beat us handsomely last night, but it's galling how little we actually brought to the tie.

It happens, we had a good run, but still more likely to have off days than some countries. That's what makes teams better or worse than each other.

Not every victory is an amazing panacea and not every defeat is an apocalypse.

I know less national games mean the above is often lost.

We have a good chance of qualifying from the Euros, contrary to the BBC report this is hardly a shock defeat, Ukraine are no mugs and have had a 6 week training camp together.

Disappointing result and performance, one to learn from and move on, not rip the whole book up. Talent wise this is still the best Scotland side this millennium (imo).

Yet again this proves that we don't have the mental capacity to win the on the big games.

The idea that there's something unique in the makeup of Scots that prevents us from delivering on the big stage is ridiculous tbh.

Ukraine are 'no mugs' because they're better than us, as their ranking, results and tournament progression in the last 20 years show.

Was surprised he didn't get a bit more stick for this last night - made up Yarmolenko's mind for him. (Appreciate he kept us in the game with his reaction saves, so hats off for that.)

Yip, if he stays in his goal, Yarmalenko has a Hell of a lot to do to score.
