Championship League Table

Recommended Posts

Basically become two 5 team leagues with any team going from bottom to top with a win.  Pars and Arbroath probably the opposite to what most people expect but fair play to Dick Campbell’s boys they’re their on merit, can't say we’ll go up there next round expecting anything but a tough game. I think the second half of their season could hinge on keeping the lad from Livingston or having to replace him.

Best bet make a serious effort to jump from the peloton to the lead group is the Pars, if the Yogi bounce is real and not a dead cat bounce. Arbroath might sag badly after Nouble leaves in January, but they might finagle another loan to make it up...wouldn’t bet against Tricky Dicky!

Of the other bottom four, only Hamilton would seem to have a real chance to rise from the more, and that would take a significant commitment in January, something they seem loathe to do. The other four at the top all look primed to push all season, with ICT potentially the “weakest”, simply based upon recent form.

12 points at the bottom, after 15 matches, certainly looks like the conventional wisdom of 30 points to avoid the tenth spot may be pretty close this year, with both Morton and Queens on track for 29 points.

'Mon the Lichties.

No doubt they'll fade in the second half of the season, but just imagine if they made it into top drawer. Knighthood for The Bunnet, surely.

Said it in the other thread and at the start of the season. Look at the second half of last season, we had top 4 form from the turn of the year.

15 games played and there's two points between first and fifth and one point between the bottom five! After that many games, that's pretty amazing.

It's also the scale of the gap between adjacent sides in the middle of the table that is remarkable.  5th has more than twice as many points as 6th.  That seems incredible.  It's the sort of points gap you only generally get near the top or foot of the table.  Even then, you wouldn't see it this early.

It really is the strangest league table right now.

The Scottish lower leagues yet again doing most of the work in trying to keep the game interesting.

It's stretched out a bit more in the past couple of weeks, but most of League One was within a couple of points of first place recently. Kelty running away with League Two, but you can't have everything.

About the only thing that's not strange about it is who is sitting at the foot. Here for a long time, not for a good time.

Will be fascinating to see how this all plays out.  I don't quite count Rovers as credible title challengers yet.  Our next 5 league games include going against 3 of the top 5 and a derby, and that's with 2 Cup games before hand.  With suspensions on the horizon and our traditional injury record, I'm a tad concerned.

If we are still in the mix after that then the club have a decision to make in January in my opinion.

Dunfermline will have a part to play here.  It's likely too big a gap for them to reach the top 4 as they need 2 or more sides to drop a fair amount of points, but they will be a thorn in the side for any of the top 5 in the head to head games.

Not seen enough of Queens or Morton to know for sure, but I expect those two and Ayr to fall further behind the other two in the next month or two. Then again it may just be Ayr that fall behind.

Really fantastic seeing arbroath still going as well as they are, would be great to see them pip someone to a play off spot. That's if they don't win it of course.

Its unusual for the league to be so even split into 5 decent sides for the level and 5 utter dross. I fully expect Ayr to remain in trouble till the end, so can only hope the other 3 don't pick up form (think dunfermline will be fine now).

We could do with Hibs selling Nizzy in Jan and get a nice wee windfall.

Wonder how much Raith get

Maths was never my best subject but they'll get 0% of a few million so that is probably quite a tidy sum.

If he transfers anywhere outside of Scotland they’ll get a small solidarity fee from UEFA. Of the 5% solidarity payment from the overall transfer value, Thistle will account for the majority of it but Raith will still get something in the five figures range.

If he moves to either of the OF only Dunfermline will get anything (based on the highly likely assumption there’s a sell on clause in play).
